Mysterious green wall on island at World Showcase

has anyone ever noticed the green wall standing up on the island to the left (if you're facing America) island in World Showcase Pavilion? On the island there is a green wall standing there. I assume it may have something to do with blocking lasers from people's eyes or whatever, I just can't figure it out.

does anyone know?

If you look to the island on the right, there are small walls standing up around the island. I just can't figure out what they're for.

That's strange... when I was down at Epcot this past June, I noticed them, and I asked a CM about it, who didn't know. I've forgotten about it since I came home, and now I must find out what they are.

Could they be the remnants of an old sign? Perhaps it's something to do with Illuninations? I must find out.
