'MyMagic+' rollout for all Annual Passholders taking place within the next few weeks

Well after this - what is there left to complain about? It seems like MM+ has rolled out without any major problems. The only group left is off site guests who I am sure would have to pay for the band - which if they do is silly.
My complaint is 3 Selections only at MK. That's craziness to me. Obviously TDO acknowledges that the MK offers more with the new pricing, so why not up those selections to 4? That's my main complaint.

Does anyone know if Disney will customize the Magic Band for Passholders enough to distinguish it from bands for non-passholders? I asked that last Fall and CMs weren't sure. I would like to not have to bring my Annual Pass card in order to get my discounts and free parking.

My complaint is that you are limited to 3 selections at only one park. I'm an AP, so I have automatic park hopping privileges, so why limit ME to one park per day (my band AND you know I'm an AP). We usually do HS/EPCOT in one day. So I have to pick which park to get FastPass+ in. In addition, both EPCOT and Hollywood Studies now have a "one from Column A and two from Column B" selection. Which means I cannot get FastPass+ for both Star Tours and Rocking Roller Coaster in HS or Test Track and Soarin' in EPCOT. Geez, Disney, I pay nearly $500 for my Florida Resident Annual Pass. Plus I stay on the property. And I'm signing up for DVC.

The AP bands are the same as resort bands. The bands will be scanned at parking to determine free park or not.

Oh I agree! The days of park hopping are done for pass holders.

Well, because APs are different than other guests, it is reasonable I believe to expect us to bring an AP discount card with us to distinguish us. However, they have been issuing two things with each AP MagicBand during the test: the discount card reflecting your AP status and tier, as well as a slider to go on your MagicBand that also reflects your AP status for the current year.

I agree. AK, HS, Epcot are workable with accurate planning. However, the limit of 3 at MK is rough. Hopefully they do not make tiers - that will be even worse.

As a passholder, (and just there for single days off and on, not staying in hotels) I dont want the bands, but just want to use the rfid card??
If you already have an RFID AP card, you can continue to use it. I was part of the AP FP+ test and used my RFID cards instead because I don't want to wear/use the bands. No problem. My account currently shows that I have two cards and one magic band. (I left my tickets at home one time and they issued me a second set but didn't deactivate the first set. So I can use either card and/or the band as I wish.)

AP FP+ testers got to pick their color and name options from the normal selection via the website but came with little sliders that say, "2013 Annual Passholder" you can slide on the strap. (Though I'm going to be honest, I don't know how comfortable it would be since it seems like it sticks out weirdly on the sides.)

They also included gold "Annual Passholder Discount" cards which you now show for parking and discounts if you're using a band. (Alternately, if you're using your RFID AP ticket you can simply show that as well for now. They may start requiring the gold cards for parking at some point when everyone has one. Either way though, you will still need a card in addition to the band for your AP benefits.) Seasonal AP's who don't get parking get a black card for discount only.

The AP bands are the same as resort bands. The bands will be scanned at parking to determine free park or not.
I don't know if this is going procedure at some point, but for now, those in the AP FP+ testing received gold RFID cards to indicate their free parking rights (and 10% merch discounts, etc.) I would imagine that as FP+ rolls out to all AP's they will get the same gold parking pass cards as well to show at the toll booth.

Steve where do we get our bands? Do we have to call, pickup,or do they mail them? I have been out of the loop lately.
In my case since I was in the AP FP+ test, they mailed them to me. I selected my colors and name options in my MDE profile on the website, confirmed my shipping address and they mailed them out same as resort guests. (In the "Incredibles" box and all.) They also included the 2013 AP sliders and gold AP parking/discount cards. They didn't ship until I confirmed the information though in my account. I would guess they'll do the same and notify you to confirm your info in your account. They overnighted ours due to the limited time of the test.

So we cant just go to guest relations and pick up a magicband?

Since they're customized and shipped from a company out of state (Tennessee?), I would presume that no, you won't be able to just pick them up at the parks. Though if they're shipping them like they have been for regular Guests, you'll get them within a day or two of them being shipped.

So how do I do this? is there an email? sorry for asking I am just wondering. I am an annual pass holder but I live in Orlando and I visit the parks whenever I go, does that mean I have to pay for a magic band?

Keep checking your My Disney Experience webpage. After you log in check the MagicBand/Card section. When it is available to you a link tab will appear there telling you to customize your bands. Then follow the steps. They will then mail the MagicBands to you. I am in Orlando and it arrived in one day. But not too long after I confirmed my info for the MagicBand I was able to use the FP+ system. There is no cost for the MagicBand and I was impressed at how quickly it came.

Woohoo! I'm actually super excited about this, although I don't think I'll be wearing the magic band quite often when I do visit.

I'm sorry of this question has already been asked, but will you be able to use both RFID and Magicband at the same time? For example, let's say I'm tired of wearing the band and drop it off at the hotel. Will I still be able to use my RFID card to enter the park and get Fastpasses or will I have to only use one of the two?

Yay, I'm so looking forward for this!

Yes, if you have both, you can use both. Moving forward, MagicBands will be the standard with RFID cards available upon request.

I don't necessarily see the benefit of scanning the band for parking purposes. If that is the case, then MagicBands with free parking can be loaned to others. Further, if they ask for ID - what's the difference between pulling out your Driver's License at the same time you pull out the gold passholder card?

I not sure there is a viable option from presenting ID and an AP card.

Just to clarify...

As an AP, I will get a MagicBand and I have my current RFID AP ticket/card (which can be used interchangeably once I get my MB).

But what about the "discount card" I keep hearing about? I think I read where APs in the FP+ testing got another card that was called a discount card and it was used to designate whether they received free parking with their AP and other merch/food discounts. But what was the point of this card as I can use my current card for discounts (except for parking designation)?

Will we also be getting this discount card and what does it do that my current AP card does not? Is it something that will replace my current AP card or something in addition to the RFID pass/card I currently have, or will we actually have three related items to carry?

My account looked like this:

ap-bands1a.jpg

The "Your Orders" part was new when I was eligible to get the bands. Clicking that brought me to this:

ap-bands1b.jpg

I had to click the "Confirm Shipping Address" link to select the color and name for each band and confirm the address was correct. Disney did not ship the bands until I completed that step. My account had the "Your Orders" field enabled before I got the email alerting me to it. So keep checking and when you see you have a pending band order, confirm it. You should be able to book FP+ as soon as you see the pending order in your MDE account.
