.

My friends didn't think it was going to be that big when they looked at it from the PoE, but when we were in the DD queue, all they could do was say "Wow." And then admit that it was in fact very big.

Totally agree. I was quite impressed with it up close during my Dec. 11-16 trip. Was hoping a "preview" area would have been open, but all the more for me to schedule a return trip sometime in 2010 or early 2011.

I wonder if people will freak out as much as they did for the back of Everest or will they give Universal a free pass? Hmmmm....

Honestly, where in the park can you see EE's showbuilding?

And I really wanna know how the inside work is kept so secretive! Nothing has been released besides word of mouth from insiders... but nothing too major. :/ I really hope the progress on the exterior is going at the same rate as the progess inside.

I've said this before, but it is worth repeating...
Yes, you can see the massive showbuilding from within the park. However, only from certain angles in Jurassic Park. And you know what? It almost looks like the other big visible showbuilding in Jurassic Park, kind of like it is another JP building.
Now, maybe they will try to hide it more, but if you look at it now you will realize it does look very similar to the big onstage building that the JP River Adventure uses.

Here's a picture I snapped of the mural:

This isn't going to come close to looking like EE. It's going to look much better.

Big difference though is that this is highly visible from within the park, Everest is not visible from within the park.

Going from that highly detailed rockwork to that mural is not going to look great.

If they match the coloration, it'll be fine. There's some disparity in that.

Going from 3D textured surfaces to flat painted surfaces never works, regardless of the coloration.

Film and a lot of EPCOT, and all all dark rides disagree.

This painting along the show building also just started. I would expect once they are done with the greenhouse queue and getting the Jurassic Park JP Service gate back up there will be trees and other things going to help create dimension when looking towards this to complete the effect.

It works in film because once its on film you lose the sense of depth that the eye sees in person.

Just seems to me that when you put the effort in that they obviously they have, it would make sense to wrap that rock work all the way around. It would undoubtedly look better.

Well of course it would look better. The world would be a better place if that sort of effort was put in all the time.

Think of this like a big haunted Mansion. If you look towards the graveyard in queue for Haunted Mansion you can clearly see the big bland warehouse that is the showbuilding behind the trees. It often goes un-noticed because people want to believe they are going into that shell of a facade and it is easy to get lost in the beauty of imagination.

Think of this on a large scale with Hogwarts. Once trees and such go in that area where that wall and service gate are you will be able to look through it if you try but the depth peception will be off because of all the foliage between you and the painted rockwork.

In Theory that is how this should go.

 This does look amazing.

Pertaining to the comments of the mural mixing with the rockwork, I have to agree with Evan. As much as it would look better with more rockwork added, the mural (so far) blends fairly well with everything else.

The casual obsever won't notice a slightly painted wall as much as they would an unpainted show building.

Also, the details on the castle look amazing. I had to blink twice on the first picture just so I could fully comprehend that I wasn't looking at the massive CGI castle from the films. I'm really excited to see it in person.
