My niece has hit a new milestone!

As many of you know, my niece, Emily, was born three months premature. She was in NICU and on a heart monitor for quite some time after. Much to everybody's delight, she grew quickly into a strong little girl. She walks and knows several words (she's even learning Sign Language!). And at 18 monts she's trouble! The little terror gets into everything!

Recently my niece has made another important step. She knows who Mickey Mouse is. Last night my sister and Emily made a quick visit. My sister first asked Emily where her nose was. Emily pointed to her nose and smiled. My sister then asked where Mickey Mouse was. Emily pointed to the big picture of Mickey on my pajama shirt.

Smart kid! :)

Great to hear she is making progress. My nephew was born 8 weeks premature (the drs couldn't decide on flying him to a NICU, they didn't) and he is great! A little goofy, but ... you know how boys are!

As the mom of a premie who spent his first few days in the NICU, I can understand your excitement at each milestone. What a good aunt you are for heading him down the path of mouse worship. :animwink:

My neice will be 11 months old on the 8th, and I can't wait until she learns about Mickey and the gang and where they live!

We're raising her well. She loves when family members babysit because usually it means she gets to visit Disney or Sea World. She has so much to see and do there- it makes babysitting a breeze! :)
