My Magic+, Rapid Fill, & My Disney Experience

Now that my trip countdown is under 30 days, I want to share some pre-trip preparations. We will be leaving NJ on the 17th of August for a 19th-23rd stay at POP. Yesterday, was a technological breakthrough in the planning phase. As many of us know, My Magic+ is currently in the testing phase and my family is a part of the testing. Supposedly, a lot of trips in August will be offered this opportunity. We actually lucked out as yesterday was the last day for us to be able to customize our bands. The default is gray, but the DW chose pink, DS1 chose red, DS2 chose orange, and I chose blue. So if you are heading down in the second half of August, time is running out for you on bracelet customization.

I am glad that the refillable mugs are going to be different this year. We have 8 of the gang poolside. I get the desire by Disney to limit people's ability use of the filing station, and I know it is probably slim to none it ever happens again, but I'd really like to report specific mugs, even if they cost a little bit more. (Sorry for the forums longest run-on sentence.)

Finally, I've gotten rid of the Disney Parks app in favor of My Disney Experience. The trip is attached to my DW e-mail, and (supposedly) she accepted my information request, but I haven't been able to access our reservation info on either my phone or my Kindle. A phone call to Disney Tech Desk will probably be in my near future. I want to take advantage of making a pre-trip Fast Pass+ for Soarin' (the only ride we've never been able to do as a family).

Any tips regarding these items would be appreciated. Any questions or comments will be replied in kind. Hopefully all of this will lead up to my first ever trip report. Wish me luck.

Okay. ADRs at Y&Y, MM, & CMC (See corn on the cob thread) done. FP+ booked for all four parks. Have to get a DS car charger, but other than having to do DS1s laundry, I think we are just about set. Tomorrow is last day at work before leaving. Any last minute suggestions? I have Friday to get my act together.

Okay. Just read that the Rapid Fill system uses modified refillable mugs (different colored handles/kids), but what I'd like to know is, do you just pick your cup and they add it to your length of stay if you have the dining plan?

How long before you were set to arrive, where you all notified or did you realize you could participate in the testing process? We arrive at POP on October 9, and a couple weeks ago I noticed the magic band and fast plus+ options show up on my disney account, however when I click the links I'm just directed to a pop-up notification asking if I'm ready for a new kind of magic but doesn't let me do anything.

It was just a little over 2 weeks prior to our arrival. We stayed at AKL which, like POP, was a test resort and since another poster confirmed AKL is continuing to test in October, I bet POP will as well.

Okay, so we just got home this morning. As far as the trip review, it was the best one yet! Both DSs were tall enough to hit every ride. I'll have to leave a report, but as for the purpose of this thread, the magic bands were a godsend. I averaged four pre-selected fast pass+ selections per day that were so easy to use. Just get in line, tap, and go. Well worth it. I only used the My Disney Experience app once there, but it was super helpful during the planning stages. The Rapid Fill stations were not online yet, but I totally understand why Disney feels the need to use it. EVERY time I was using my refillable mug, I saw someone filling water bottles or personal containers with soda/Gatorade.

Off to work on the trip report!
