My Magic+, Rapid Fill, & My Disney Experience

Now that my trip countdown is under 30 days, I want to share some pre-trip preparations. We will be leaving NJ on the 17th of August for a 19th-23rd stay at POP. Yesterday, was a technological breakthrough in the planning phase. As many of us know, My Magic+ is currently in the testing phase and my family is a part of the testing. Supposedly, a lot of trips in August will be offered this opportunity. We actually lucked out as yesterday was the last day for us to be able to customize our bands. The default is gray, but the DW chose pink, DS1 chose red, DS2 chose orange, and I chose blue. So if you are heading down in the second half of August, time is running out for you on bracelet customization.

I am glad that the refillable mugs are going to be different this year. We have 8 of the gang poolside. I get the desire by Disney to limit people's ability use of the filing station, and I know it is probably slim to none it ever happens again, but I'd really like to report specific mugs, even if they cost a little bit more. (Sorry for the forums longest run-on sentence.)

Finally, I've gotten rid of the Disney Parks app in favor of My Disney Experience. The trip is attached to my DW e-mail, and (supposedly) she accepted my information request, but I haven't been able to access our reservation info on either my phone or my Kindle. A phone call to Disney Tech Desk will probably be in my near future. I want to take advantage of making a pre-trip Fast Pass+ for Soarin' (the only ride we've never been able to do as a family).

Any tips regarding these items would be appreciated. Any questions or comments will be replied in kind. Hopefully all of this will lead up to my first ever trip report. Wish me luck.

I just received my bands today! I will post a pic of them later. Very cool.
I checked last night, I can no longer modify them, they say they are "Shipping soon"!!! I am looking forward to receiving them, and again a big thank you to you all - without you I wouldn't have been able to get them customized!

Have you started your fastpass+ planning yet?

Day one MK=Tommoroland speedway, under the sea, SM, BLSRS
Day two HS= ToT, Toy story, Disney Jr
Some seem like a waste for fastpass, but it's a work in progress....

No problem, I can post a picture in the am!! I was a little disappointed in that all we could customize were the color and the name on it. I must admit, we wanted to put our nick names on there, but I didn't want to blow the entire deal over something silly like that, so we kept our names the way they were on it. Did you change the names?

Also, I seem to recall you can add "charms" to it. Any Idea on how this works and where to get them?

No, we kept our real names. The names are inscribed (small print) on the inside of the bands. I guess that is to tell the bands apart if two members of the same family picked the same band color.

The charms are now sold in gift stores in the parks. One more way for Disney to make money...

I was told (not sure how accurately) by a CM at Disney Travel when I called that they will not be shipping the bands for these tests, rather, they will be issuing them at the hotels. In addition, when you customize them, I was also told that you "may not" get the colors you chose.

Basically, Disney is saying nada and making no promises. <grin>

Still, if it's on your experience app, you've been chosen for testing. Customize your bands, book your FP+ options (I note, the tiering is gone now), and have fun!

I can understand why DIsney doesn't want to "make promises" on this subject. Apparently the first test phase they did, they shipped out the bands and many people did not receive them before they left for their trips. Also, since they are still in the testing phases, things are bound to go wrong. It is still a great concept and I think the new NextGen technology will be wonderful.
Have a great trip!

I told DGF and DD about the charms. I am sure we are going to get sucked in! Is the only place to get them at Disney world? Can we order / view them ahead of time?

Since we will be leaving two weeks from tomorrow (Woooo!), I figured I'd finalize some things. Used MDE to make ADRs at MM and Y&Y. Also setup fast passes for rides at all four parks. The whole process has been very easy with the use of technology. Everyone is very excited.

You guys have GOT to let us know what you think about FP+! Specifically, are you park hoppers? Are you able to add on more FP+ later in the day after the initial ones are used? Etc. Hope you have a great experience, and let us know how you like how it works.

Will do, I am going to try one of those post as you go TR's so we will see. WE ARE PARK Hoppers big time! Every day we have planned to hop once. But the best I can tell you can only do FP+ in one park. You can't do one in one park and two in another. All three have to be in the same park. Plus I can't figure out why, but on some days I was able to get 4FP+'s But 3 is supposed to be the limit....
