My idea for a new Land - The North Pole!

Thanks for the comments, everybody. Interesting to read.

Well, to me the appeal of the North Pole is the idea of a frozen-looking theme land in Florida. Blizzard Beach is ubercool just for that reason. And again, "Prep and Landing" was such a great cartoon, IMO the best the Disney Animation Studio has done in some time if not ever. Maybe a dark ride could consist of the Tower as seen in the special, where MaGee the Elf acts as instructor for Santa's-Elves-In-Training (which would be us, the guests), and says that Elves must learn how to pilot a sleigh in case of an emergency. And so we get on ride vehicles that look like sleighs and are attached to Kuka arms, and we travel on a "training run" that turns into a wild flight through a blizzard and an obstacle course where we're dodging airplanes and trying to land on roofs. Plus there could be AAs of the reindeer a la Country Bear Jamboree...seems to me that there would be a lot of merchandising possibilities there too (I'd love a stuffed Thrasher!)

I'm a bit of a Christmas junkie myself, and I know for a fact that a LOT of Americans are Christmas junkies. If Disney built something Christmasy at WDW to visit year-round, and if it were awesome, you couldn't keep me away. I could see a small Santa's Village type of layout a la Universal's Hogsmeade (only bright and colorful, where Hogsmeade is pretty eldritch), with a toy shop, a candy shop, and the "Prep and Landing" dark ride. I still think it could be pretty amazing. Fun to imagine, anyway. :xmas:

I had a thought a while back that they should make Antarctica a new land at AK. Polar bears and penguins! :)

Would love to see north pole/antarctica in AK. It would probably have to be indoors though.

Polar Bears + North Pole = Arctic

Penguins + South Pole = Antarctic

:lookaroun

As for air conditioning the great outdoors in Florida, doesn't Disney do that anyway? I mean really... Have you walked past the entrances to attractions and stores in WDW?!?!?!?

Hate to rain on your parade but Disney does touch on this in several areas such as Blizzard Beach and Winter Summerland, not to ention MVMCP. I could not see them theming a 3rd (4th)area around winter. Don't get me wrong it sounds fun and I love Christmas I just don't see it fitting aywhere. Also the North Pole is technically in the ocean. Animals that sort of live near there are arctic foxes and ringed seals. Polar Bears rarely travel that far north.

I googled it. It looks like a joke. it's Six with Santa. I was merely armchair Imagineering. And if Disney did it, it would be something completely opposite of that junk.

Just because it doesn't have Disney's elaborate themeing doesn't make it "junk." Maybe you should take the Disney-colored goggles off.

There is also a place near by SV called Story Land. They have Cinderella's castle there. I had to explain to my daughter why Cinderella was wearing high tops under her dress. lol (she was a teenage girl who they had in a dress)

Did you ride up to the Castle in the motorized coach with the plastic horses?

I think we have been to every park in that region, multiple times.

Santas Village is a regular visit for us. Just about evey little kid in my extended family calls the log ride "The Flume of Doom" (you can thank my brother and me for starting that)

I really like Clark's Trading post. Nowhere near as many rides as SV, but all that stuff they have in there is interesting to look at.

Avoid Six Gun City like the plague.

Well, okay, North Pole wouldn't fit into Epcot, I suppose, if we're talking the literal North Pole. I guess I should have clarified that I was thinking of the fictional North Pole, where Santa lives. So Fantasyland would be the better location, I guess.

I don't see why a "Prep and Landing" dark ride wouldn't fit into Fantasyland. The characters from "Prep and Landing" - with the exception of Santa and the original reindeer - are true Disney creations. They have more reason to exist in WDW than do characters like Indiana Jones and the Muppets. There could be a dark ride, ancillary shops that are themed to the ride, not full of generic tourist junk, which is one of the many things Universal did right with Wizarding World. There could even be fake snow in "Prep and Landing" area.

Anyway, I think it could work and work well. Your mileage may vary. It's fun to kick ideas around here, isn't it? I've enjoyed reading other people's ideas, like the idea about Captain Hook's ship being in Fantasyland, as opposed to Pixie Hollow, or a separate Neverland area, or maybe a separate Wonderland. All those ideas are exciting. Much better than dopey princess meet-and-greets IMO.

haha, yes. The plastic pumpkin!

I've been to all of them except Six Gun City. Not sure why though. Just doesn't interest me I guess.

Clarks is very small, but we have a blast there too. The Wolfman scares the kids, lol.

Maybe she just took Alice to school on the basketball court out back before her Meet & Greet. Cut the girl some slack!!!

It's a regional park with nowhere near the money Disney has, but it's still considered one of the best and cleanest parks in the U.S. I think it's really unfair to call it junk. Does it meet the Disney standard of theming? No, not completely, but they're not going for anything that elaborate.

I still think that any kind of Holiday themed land or pavillion just wouldn't work for Disney. I think an indoor Antarctica themed land on Animal Kingdom's left side would be really nice, though. That and Australia are probably my two biggest wants for AK, with the Beastly Kingdom type idea as a third.

And that is 100% fine. People just shouldn't compare it to Disney if they don't want this kind of reaction.

And I am all for anything for AK. But Beastly is my numero uno. :)

What reaction is that? A delusional biased one? No themeing doesn't equal junk. If you took the themeing away from Disney's rides, they'd have filed bankruptcy decades ago, since most of the rides can't stand on their own merits without the themeing.

I don't take it as anyone comparing the park to Disney, more that there is already a well established park that is centered on Holidays, and Disney really has very little reason to open a land/pavillion/park that is centered on them as well. It's not like Universal vs. MGM, where Disney's already well-established as a company that makes movies, it's Disney using space for some sort of attraction that is in no way necessary, and would probably fail.

Whatever. Every time you respond to one of my posts you are pretty rude and argumentative. And yes, when you have a THEME park with lack-luster themes, it is IMO junk. And I have every right to feel that way without you trying to tell me that my opinions are wrong. And keep in mind they are my opinions, not yours. :animwink:

Edit: the ignore list works great.

i know what you're saying though. A Disney Nroth Pole would be awesome. It combines my 2 favorite things: Disney and Christmas!
