My idea for a new Land - The North Pole!

I was watching Disney's "Prep and Landing" this morning (a cool snap in the weather put me in the mood for some early Xmas cheer)...and it came to me...the perfect new Land for WDW would be...The North Pole!

There IS a North Pole in Alaska...so perhaps it could fit into Epcot...

Or just make it part of the Fantasyland Expansion!

But think of it! Buildings with snow on the roofs (sound familiar? Only Disney could plus it and make it more magical, maybe embed twinkle lights in it so it would sparkle like magic frost at night), candy-cane embellisments, Santa's workshop, Lanny and Wayne walk-arounds, candy and toy shops, a dark ride based on Santa's deliveries in a blinding snowstorm...it could WORK.

My god, I'm shaking right now. Seriously, I'm so excited by this idea...not that I think I'm brilliant, but that this idea is based on a DISNEY version of Christmas, and the fact that "Prep and Landing" was such a WONDERFUL special! Oh man, why not build on that - literally - at WDW?

I want the North Pole in WDW! Imagineers, make it so! :xmas:

I am not too crazy about this one as an entire park. However, a seasons park/pavilion would be really neat! 4 seasons themed with 4 major Holidays. Would be awesome. Fall: Halloween, Winter: Christmas, Spring: Valentines day of St. Patrick's day, Summer: 4th of july (picture the summery themed attractions and firework shows). Could be really neat.

There's a park that already does this. Disney would come across as "stealing" that idea from another park. Holiday World in Indiana. Many people who've been to Holiday World consider it to be one of the best overall regional theme park experiences (and they have free soft drinks and free parking).

Epcot used to have something like what you're describing: Ice Station Cool (see my avatar). It's now re-designed as Club Cool.

Would love to see north pole/antarctica in AK. It would probably have to be indoors though.

They could theme it much like BB is, but my big idea they probably wouldn't approve of and I can't say I do cost-wise. It would be to create vents that are invisible to the naked eye that would pump cool air into the area making it seem colder. But the cost to air condition an entire land just for atmosphere seems like it would be too much. :p

Wonders of Life would be a good fit for a pavilion like this. They could easily change seasons (in the way of decorations) with a brief closure time, and it would have a high return rate because of its ever changing nature. Now that means Body Wars and Cranium Command would have to be removed (if not already) but a ride based on the weather could be created and wouldn't have to be changed for the different seasons.

I googled it. It looks like a joke. it's Six with Santa. I was merely armchair Imagineering. And if Disney did it, it would be something completely opposite of that junk.

I think the seasons is deff something they could work with. Epcot would be perfect (even thought The Land touches on it).

I kind of like this idea, but one of Disney's big things is changing the decor to fit the holiday season. If they created a park that monopolized the 4 seasons, I think it would kind of steal the thunder of the holiday seasons at the rest of the parks. It is definitely an interesting idea though.

I don't see Disney ever changing part of MK to make it a North Pole land. Seems too drastic of a change and why favor one holiday at the MK year round? It just doesn't make too much sense to me anyway. Maybe it does for others.

By the way, this idea definitely is not original. Back in the day there was a place called Santa's Village in outlying suburbs of Chicago. It's been closed for years, but the old snow covered houses and candy cane statues are still standing and contained within the fenced in park. It's very sad to see when I'm in the area because of all the old memories. :( Oh well.

There is a Santa's Village in New Hampshire. Disney it's not, but it's ok for little ones.

Oh I agree totally. It's definitely not on par with Disney, but you know what? When I was a little kid, I didn't know any better and it was just as incredible as Disney in my eyes. :)

There is also a place near by SV called Story Land. They have Cinderella's castle there. I had to explain to my daughter why Cinderella was wearing high tops under her dress. lol (she was a teenage girl who they had in a dress)

As someone who has been to North Pole Alaska, its not really something you want to base a park after. Yes, there is Santa Clauses house with a 50 foot Santa outside. There is a mall, that is half full of stores, a Wendy's & McDonald and a 7-11 and thats about it.

LOL! Never been there, but by your description, I have to agree with you.

I'm sorry for sounding like a naysayer. I'm just not seeing this at Epcot either. Santa and a winter wonderland theme just doesn't seem to fit into an Experimental Prototype City Of Tomorrow. It doesn't seem to fit at Magic Kingdom either. I hate sounding negative, but it just doesn't seem like the right fit. I suppose they could make a Nordic section in Animal Kingdom with penguins and polar bears, but I think you're really limited in the animals you can use, not to mention Santa and candy canes really don't go with the theme of the rest of the park.

I think that Blizzard Beach really does fit the bill well. Maybe they can just add a Santa's house there and be done with it. Seems cheaper than building a brand new park.

My first thought is that the North Pole idea is not that great, but that is just my opinion. An Antartica at AK would be nice to see, that could be very interesting. As for anything like that going to Epcot, I think it would be out of place, it is more world showcase for countries around the world and having a North Pole portion of FLE would not work well either. Either way it is an idea that could be expanded on and a great topic to talk about.
