I proceeded to roll my eyes, yell a little, and then lecture him.
I love him, but can't look at him the same way.

Anyone else get bugged when people say this?

I hate to hear that! Just do your thing, it'll be fine. I've gone through similar things, and believe it or not, others usually come around to accept that just because something isn't their cup of tea, it's ok for others. Buy the Pooh plush, the Princess tiara, or the Pirate sword, just enjoy it! Life is far, far to short to worry about the judgment of others. Especially where Disney is concerned.

Thanks for the kind words! Really helped :) I'll definitely remember your words when I'm on my next Disney vacation! :)

Yep all the time, it has gotten to the point that when people ask, I just say Florida because while I am not ashamed to tell them, at the same time it stops the questions and the stares and everything else.

Yeah it happens to me sometimes. A couple of years ago a co-worker of mine around the same age as me took his wife and 3 year old daughter to Orlando. They did Disney of course. We talked for about 10 minutes about rides and such and as soon as one of the other guys walked into the room his tune changed and he did a 180. He claimed he would never have gone to WDW if it wasn't for his 3 year old. He was worried what a non-Disney person would think of him. Once the person left the room I looked at him and he knew what I was going to say. I said: "What was that? I've been to WDW too, and I know the money it costs and I know full well no one in the world would spend that kind of money on a three year old who will have little memory of it when you can just take them to a park."

He knew I was right, but my opinion is that he hasn't grown up past the whole "What will they think of me" mindset that I had when I was.................oh, I don't know, 15.

Anyway, this is how I look at people who don't "get" the Disney experience. We have been there and we know better. If you have been and don't like it, hey, that's your right and it is no skin off my back. I just have to wonder what in the world can make a person like that happy. But if Disney is just for kids then I have no interest in growing up at all. You can be old, mature, sophisticated and responsible and STILL be young at heart. Not to mention anyone with an appreciation for theming or architecture would enjoy the parks. Anyone who appreciates cultures would like Epcot. To me it is the simplicity of the parks that I enjoy and the fact that I'll never see stuff like that anywhere else.

My first trip to Disneyland was last year and as a WDW veteran I had an idea of what it might be like, even though it was new. The second we went through the gates I was running around Main Street like a 5 year old. My wife got a kick out of just seeing MY reaction to being in Disneyland. And we hadn't even hit the rides yet. It was just a dream come true. So if I do that at 32 years old, and don't care, then no one else should.

Yeah I get that all the time at work. It's either 'oh, it's never appealed to me' or 'oh it's for kids' and I've just given up trying to tell them anything different anymore.
My one work colleague has 2 boys, ones 10 and ones about 6. They would LOVE Disney World but she reckons they're too young. NO TAKE THEM NOW!!! Just some people don't listen.
And then there's the ones who just wouldn't even give Disney a chance. And watch too much current Disney Channel (which in the UK is pretty dodgy). ERGH OTHER PEOPLE!!!

When I go to WDW I still like going on rides like Peter Pan and Small World so I guess I am a little kid! To be honest I really don't care what anyone thinks when im at Disney I will ride anything at WDW!
