My Disneyland Australlia

Kinda ambitious for my first post I know, but bear with me.

After reading several of the threads here, and on other sites, I got thinking about trying my hand at Imagineering. I wanted to create my own park, and IMO the next logical place to place a Disney park would be Australlia. My thinking woule be to locate it somewhere neer Sidney, which is well known and has a lot of tourists.

Let's imagine Disney had aquired a plot of land on a scale of WDW (whether or not this is possible is irelevant, it's my fantasy :p) The first park built would be the traditional Disneyland, based upon the Magic Kingdom/Disneyland.

My plan is to have the Lands as follows
  • Main Street
  • Adventureland
  • Frontierland
  • Fantasyland
  • Toontown
  • Tomorrowland
Firstly I would like to ask a small question, should I add Critter Country or not, I'm umming and ahhing over adding it so I thought I'd ask.

Secondly, I want to include several disney classics as well as some of my own additions. Which rides do you think are too important to leave out. I have some ideas, but I'd like your input.

First of all, I personally love the addition of Critter Country. It is definitely part of the park I'm coming up with. It frees up room in Fantasyland, so I think it's important.

As for rides that absolutely cannot be left out are Haunted Mansion, it's a small world, Pirates of the Caribbean, and the mountain range. But don't let the list confine you. If you don't want these rides feel free to omit them, and if you do have them, make them your own.

I've looked over maps of the other parks (and taken Sir Goofy's kind advice on board) and decided to add Critter Country to the park. This will obviously be the home of Splash Mountain, which will definatly be included.

So far the list of definate kept atractions reads as:

  • Splash Mountain
  • Big Thunder Mountain
  • Space Mountain (although I am planning a ride closer to Paris)
  • Pirates of the Carribain (Probably with a Jack Sparrow theme)
  • It's A Small World
  • Dumbo Flyers
  • Jungle Cruise
  • Haunted Mansion
  • The Disneyland Railroad
I have an idea for Mickey's house involving an AA show similar to Crush at Epcot. I really think that could be fantastic with children actually getting to talk to the Mouse and have him talk back.

In regards to the Fantasyland dark rides, here's what I think are definite keeps:

  • Peter Pan's Flight
  • The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh

As for Pinocchio and Snow White, if you could only pick one to include in your park on opening day, which would it be?

Peter Pan is on my list, but not as a definate, it was never a favourite of mine, but it seems to be popular with lots of people. This may be my idea, but I am hoping for plenty of input from you guys. I was gonna go with a new Pooh dark ride, possibly based on one particular tale, I havn't quite decided, many adventures or Honney Hunt (from Tokyo) are possibilitys as well.

As for Pinocchio and Snow White, if you could only pick one to include in your park on opening day, which would it be?

Snow White probably, I think that tale has more appeal, I may be wrong but that just my take. It's also a Princess based attraction which is hot for Disney atm

Where would people interact with Mickey?

My plan was to have the tour through most of Mickey's house and then have the AA in the living room or possibly in a tent in the garden. If you mean where would the live character be? Probably in the Character area I have planned for Toon Town. These are just formative ideas at this stage, although I did run this idea past my mum, brother and girlfriend and they all thought it was a brilliant idea.

I want to include a ride based on the Spiderman ride system in IOA. I have four possible ideas:
  • Talespin
  • Chip 'n' Dale: Rescue Rangers
  • Darkwing Duck
  • The Incredibles
There are vague stories in place for each one, but I just wondered which apeals to people most

Darkwing Duck: Let's Get Dangerous

I thought I'd post the general premise of the Darkwing Duck atraction that will reside in the Toon Town section of the Park. The ride will be similar to "The Amazing Adventures of Spiderman" in IOA, using the same technology, and I'll admit i got a couple of ideas for the story and effects from there as well, but it's mostly my own stuff and some really are obvious when you look at the Villains.

Darkwing Duck: Let's Get Dangerous

The ride will be entered through the St Cannard Tour Centre. The premise of the ride is that you are to take a night-time tour around the city. There will be monitors in the queue showing animated "highlight" videos displaying the city. As you enter the pre show room, a large screen cuts to a news Report informing that "The Fearsome Five are loose in St Cannard" (The Fearsome Five being Negaduck, Megavolt, Bushroot, Quackerjack and The Liquidator) An animatromic duck soon informs you that everything will be safe and there is no reason to panic, the tour will continue as normal.

Your party then boards 6 person cars, dressed up as "Tour Vechiles" and are given a pair of glasses that will "provide night sight". The cars then move off into the city. The moon is high overhead and a loud noise is heard, riders look up and will see The Thunderquack shoot across the moon towards the city - Darkwing Duck is on his way!

I'm still working to the exact details of the main section of the ride, I have some of the main set pieces sorted, your car getting flung in the air by one of Quackerjack's toys, Megavolt shocking the car, Getting sparyed by Liquidator. And I have Darkwing's big entrance sorted, At some point after the vilains initail attack there is a puff of smoke and as it begins to clear the shadow of a caped and hatted duck begins to form saying "I am the terror that flaps in the night, I am the storm that rains on your parade, I AM DARKWING DUCK!"

Thoughts and sugestions would be most welcome. I will probably edit this post when I have the whole story sorted

Sounds great. I definitely like the Mickey AA interaction. I would suggest you make his house more of a show in that case though. Logistically a walk through would be a nightmare with that thing kids would stand in the area, which hold up the people waiting to get in. If it was a show, everyone could have their turn.

Personally I LOVE Darkwing, but I'm not sure if he would be the most popular choice for a ride of that calibur.

Darkwing may not be the most popular character, but he is bieng resurected on toon disney, and im really hoping he gets another shot. He seemed to lend himself to the rede the best as well, The Incredibles just didnt work all that well, I'm sure they COULD but I just wasnt able to come up with a story that grabbed me, where as with DW, I was full of great ideas and effects to employ.

Anyway, I have two other E-Tickets to announce:

  • Fire Mountain (at long last it's gonna be built)
  • Indiana Jones & The Temple of the Lost Souls (Along the lines of Anaheim & Tokyo)
Both will be located in Adventureland, meaning that my plans for having Pirates of the Carribean as an Escape from Atlantis (Sea Wrold Orlando) style Water Coaster may have to be dropped and PotC will just be the standard ride, but with a movie storyline.

Fire Mountain will be the morphing coaster that was planned for Orlando, although the Atlantis movie story will be dropped and a story based on gelogists uncovering an ancient burial ground and angering vengeful spirits of the volcano will be implemented. As before, the ride will start as a normal coaster, fast and turney, but no loops, until the mountain errupts and the ride morphs into an inverted coaster with corcscrews and inversions.

As I stated before Indiana Jones & The Temple of the Lost Souls will be an action ride allong the lines of the Indy rides at Anaheim and Tokyo. Indy has uncovered a Temple in the Jungles of India. But a curse is placed on those who enter and the ride soon becomes a wild dash to survive, of course with the help of Dr Jones

Which version of Snow White would you like to go with? The one I'm thinking of for an improved version in Disneyland and Tokyo Disneyland? The Disneyland Paris version (which I'm also considering for Hong Kong Disneyland)? Or the Walt Disney World version (which I'm also considering for Disneyland Berlin)?

Here's what the improved version for DL/TDL will be like:

The entrance is in the guise of the Queen's castle as usual. You wend your way through the castle as the queue and you then reach the load area. The Dwarf-named mine cars seat six instead of four. Behind the load area is a big mural, showing Snow White and her friends, both Dwarfs and forest animals alike.

The mural for the ride in both parks will be different between them. Here's the one at Disneyland: http://img248.imageshack.us/my.php?image=muralyn7.jpg.
And here's the one at Tokyo Disneyland: http://disney.wretch.cc/Gallery/c01/p20.jpg.

As you board the ride vehicle, you hear the Dwarfs providing the safety spiel. Then once aboard your car, it moves through the first scene: the Queen's castle's courtyard, where you pass by the wishing well and Snow White dressed as a scullery maid. She is sitting on a flight of steps where she is singing "I'm Wishing" to a small flock of doves. The Prince on horseback watches from the other side of the track.

Then you turn away from the castle into a dark forest. Here, you see the huntsman and Snow White as he warns her to flee. Then you pass by the usual scene of the scary forest, which is pretty much the same as usual, only MUCH shorter and involving the addition of a log that falls down toward your vehicle, almost hitting you on the head. Plus, the flying bats are much more convincing now. There are also evil eyes everywhere, too.

Leaving the forest, you then go through the Seven Dwarfs' diamond mine, where you see the Seven Dwarfs working, singing "Heigh-Ho". Here's an image to give you an idea what the Dwarfs inside will look like: http://www.disneylandpostcards.com/fldwarfs.jpg. One of the Dwarfs also tries to stop a runaway cart full of diamonds from crashing into your cart. It kind of looks like a cross between both versions from Disneyland, and by both versions, I mean both "pre-83 and post-83". So it's kind of the best of both worlds.

Then you head out of the mine and pass by the Dwarfs heading for the cottage, singing "Heigh-Ho" still. You then enter the cottage, where you see the Dwarfs and Snow White dancing together to the music of "The Silly Song". Here's a picture to give an idea of what the scene will look like: http://www.tokyodisneyresort.co.jp/tdl/images/pg/fantasy/fantasy_atr02_ph1.jpg.

Upon leaving, you pass below a tree with two vultures perched on it and enter the ominous castle of the Queen. Here, you encounter the Queen with her back to you as she turns into the Witch with the same effect as in Florida. You hear her saying, "Magic mirror on the wall..." and then she turns around and you see that she's become the Witch while she finishes her line with, "I am the fairest one of all!"

After this, the dungeon scene that follows is the same as the other rides, but as with the forest scene, it's much shorter; it only shows the jail cell with the skeleton and the Witch at the cauldron brewing the poison apple while the raven looks on.

From there, you head back to the cottage where we see the Witch handing the apple to Snow White. "Have a bite, deary," she says to Snow White inside the window. You then hear Snow White gasping for air and as you pass by a side window, you see a silhouette of Snow White as she faints while the Witch yells with a cackle, "Now I'm fairest in the land!"

Then we hear the Dwarfs saying that they're going to stop the Witch. "Quick!" one yells. "She's up on the cliff! Let's go!" You then go to the usual scene of the mountain cliff where you see the Dwarfs on the incline as they stand before the Witch, who yells, "You meddling fools! I'll crush your bones!" You see the usual scene of the Witch attempting to roll a boulder down the hill to crush them, only to meet her own end when a bolt of lightning knocks her off the cliff.

You then go through Florida and France's closing scene, where Snow White and the Prince are on the bridge and the Dwarfs are on the steps of the bridge with the castle in the sunset on the one side of the track, before arriving at the unload area.

That's the improved DL/TDL version I'm thinking of doing. Maybe you could use this version in your park, too. Or you could use the France version or the Florida version. Or are you going to do your own?

I'm probably going to take elements of them all and add my own twist to create a new version for DLA. I do love the mural at Disneyland, so that one would probably be used. I'd probably go with adding lots of classic scenes, and trying to include lots of songs. Hi Ho, Silly Song, Whistle While You Work etc. I also want to keep a happy, non scary theme for most of the ride, obviously some slightly scary elements are unavoidable, but I want to keep the tone light.

Improved??? NOT!!!

It's just another vision...

Well, it's improved in that the characters are fluidly-moving AAs and not simple statues with minimal movement. And it focuses less on the Wicked Witch and more on Snow White and the Dwarfs. And it's improved for children by shortening the scarier scenes (i.e., the forest, the Queen's dungeon, etc.).

Top that!

A little harsh, personally I think it IS an improvement, emphasising the happy, upbeat nature rather than the scaryness that was previously there. Theres also some technical updates as well.

But each to their own.

Anyway, onto happier, more upbeat topics: I have a question for everyone, should Space Mountain be similar to the US parks or France? My gut says France, adding a second mega coaster to the park, but part of me thinks this may be too much. Your opinion is always valued :sohappy:

I've had a bit of a brainstorm while watching a Bond film (because that always reminds everyone of Snow White:lookaroun) and I came up with the idea of having each scene a little longer, and instead of a straight through ride, the cars would stop at each section, alowing for a little bit more to happen, almost like turning the pages of a book.

It seems a little too much like my planned Darkwing Duck ride, it is awesome though. I would like to add the Von Drake ride and your idea for the Barnstormer idea if you don't mind?
