My Disney Vacation Advice? Florida

Ok guys so im planning a trip September 28-October8 to be in Florida. I have been planning on going to Walt Disney World And probably do the Universal Studios as well. I was planning like 6 or 7 days in Orlando and then going to the beach for 2 or 3 days. My problem is since im only going to the beach for 3 days i want to make sure i go to the best place i can. Ive been thinking somewere around Tampa,Siesta Key beach, or somewere on the atlantic side. I was thinking key west but the drive is to unrealistic for my time period so i dont wanna travel more then 2 1/2 hrs away from the parks any ideas or destinations i should put into consideration, also im coming from Louisville ,Ky which is 13 hrs from orlando,fl. Thanks i plan on being on here everyday until my vacation as im extra excited

Yea they have one of the DVC resorts at Vero Beach which I think is like 2 hours from Orlando. (correct me if I'm wrong). Beautiful place right on the ocean...and it has the Disney feel...the best of both worlds...but if it was me I would stay at wdw for the whole trip lol u can never get me to leave that place!

What is DVC? Well i wanted to stay at WDW the entire trip but we orginally wanted to visit the ocean to. I think if you drive 15 hrs to Florida you should also visit the ocean and spend a day on the beach. We were origanlly going to go to key west and go to WDW but thats too much driving so i promised mygirlfirned we would go to the beach a day and collect shells and maybe go parasailing

If you have kids, check out the Pink Shell Resort in Ft Myers, we did the same thing one year, Disney, then Ft Myer's. Sanibel Island is nice too. Both have great beaches, warm water, lots of shells on the beach. The Pink Shell Resort has a 0 entry pool, great for the little kids. Bar at the pool, great for the Adults. Kids activities during the day.

Enjoying the Beach after Disney is a great way to relax from the vacation if you know what I mean. Have a great time.

I would also recommend the Gulf side of Florida, I've been to both but I like the beaches better on the Gulf side. The water is warmer and calmer, you can find beautiful shells and the sunsets are beautiful.

It will be me and my girlfriend only were both 23 and we can move through a park pretty quick . Ive heard of sanibel island and heard its the best place to collect shells in the us. But how do you go about getting on the island itself i heard you have to take a boat ride over to it? If thats the case how much is that and were do i go?

I totally disagree with the other OP. The ocean side is sooo much nicer than the gulf. The gulf sides water is green and merky at times while the ocean side is a beautiful clear blue. My vote if for ocean side!!

No, you just drive over a bridge to get there.

Vero Beach is a Disney Vacation Club resort. It's about a 2 hour drive from Disney. We haven't had a chance to check it out yet.

My neighbors were in Cocoa Beach (cue in 'I Dream of Jeannie' music!) in June and they loved it.

I will look into it i have to make my mind up tonight and make all my reservations tommorro to get everything planned and booked. Also cheaper the ocean hotel the better i want as much spending money as possible for when im at Disney
