Hi all,

Okay, so my DH, who does love Disney but thinks i'm a "freak" with my Disney obsession - in a good way of course. has just thrown out a challenge. And asked me to ask all of you. Are you up to it?? :)

He and I are going to WDW at the end of Feb for our Baby-Moon but also, we are finding out if we are having a boy or a girl while we are down there.

I came up with an idea of how to do this gender reveal. It involves, Main St., a balloon handler, someone from guest services, and a photopass photographer. The Guest Services person will have the envelope, will open it, will whisper to the balloon handler if it is a boy or a girl and the balloon person will hand us either a pink or a blue balloon. All the while, the photographer will be snapping away.

My DH said, since we are having lunch at CRT immediately after this, why not put the reveal in the hands of the CRT cast members. His idea, give the envelope to a friend, have them call the bakery, make a cake, bring it to the table and have CRT present us with the cake - which is either blue or pink inside - and then present either a wand or a sword.

Those are our ideas - but now, we are tossing it to you all. Do you have any ideas on how to do the reveal? Some things - it will be on Sunday the 23rd of Feb. It will be at the Magic Kingdom. And it will be me, my DH and my mom.

So my Disney friends - its all yours!!! I can't wait to see what you come up with!!

Thank you in advance!

Good luck with what ever you choose. We will be in the parks Feb 9-16 can't wait need some Disney warm weather and get away from this freezing temps.

My idea is really over the top but what if you could get the CM to have a Mickey and a Minnie character
on hand and let the corresponding mouse come out to the table where the cake was. Think of the pictures (a boy Mickey,a girl Minnie). That would say Disney in caps for me. You could still have balloons brought out by the CM with the right gender mouse. If you were able to have a Mickey or a Minnie there for the reveal , think not only of the pictures but the video you could post for us :).

I love love love the mickey/minnie ear "balloon" idea best. Wonder if you get the CM who has the envelope to get the plush if you went that route? or the ears even? but defiantly would love to see pics with the surprise in front of the castle it is just so Disney to have the castle in the background.

I'm so confused. Are you having your doctor call Disney to tell them the baby's sex or is the doctor giving you an envelope that contains they bay's sex, which you will give to Disney so they can give it back?

I assume that "gender reveal" means you're finding out the sex baby based on ultrasound results.

Everyone else seems to understand. Is this a new baby thing? My cousin just had a baby. I guess I could ask her.

???

Help.

Hahaha, I know how this works because my niece did it a couple of years ago. The ultrasound or doctor puts the gender on the report and in an envelope and the parents hand that envelope to their revealer, whether it is the person doing the cake or in @disneygirl76 case she may have the balloon handler open her envelope!

My niece did a dinner with a special cake and I would get a small disney cake that said "pink or blue we'll love you" on top of it and put the ribbon gender color appropriate in it and have it served with the photographers standing by for the big slice and reveal time!

I applaud your patience, OP. I wouldn't wait. I'd open the envelope. Well, there wouldn't be an envelope, lol, I'd have to ask them to tell me as soon as they knew.

I'm sure the baby will enjoy this one day, however your hear it. :) It will be your faces that make it great. :)

Me too, my dark side would be be compelled to cheat and open the envelope....

I love both ideas you already have. Giving it a quick thought - I wonder if Taking Mickey could tell you? I have NO idea what the logistics would be. Just a thought!

Ha - someone would have to tell him. I don't know how that works though. I mean - is he "pre programmed"? That would be AMAZING though!

Hee hee Gender Reveal is kind of a trending thing, yes. The tech will put the results in a sealed envelope. The doc and nurses will know but you tell them you DO NOT want to be told. Just put the results in an envelope. If you have a cake made - you give the envelope to the baker. In this case, the guest services person will help and they will open the envelope. :)

I like the balloon idea. Another idea would be to use the little mickey ear hats- they have different colors to choose from. Then when the baby is born he/she can get newborn photo shots wearing their ears.

Cute - we are getting ears made - with either Its a girl! or Its a Boy! :) But that will be after the reveal.

I think the balloon idea would make the best picture and memory - Main St. with Cinderella Castle in the background and him handing you guys the balloon? So cute!!

The cake thing - while really cute - is very overdone. And you could really do it anywhere. But the Disney balloon on Main St...much more "Disney"

It would be a fantastic photo to hang in the nursery! I'm sure Disney has cute baby picture frames too!

Congrats!! Whatever you do - make sure to post the pictures on here!

I will for sure post the pics! :) And I agree - the cake thing is a bit over done. I like your point - its a more Disney moment. :)

I like the way you think! I would love that! But I have no idea how to arrange that. I would assume you would need to know someone higher up that works at the parks to organize something like that. When I called and spoke to the cast members in reservations and dining - they directed me to the florist. Which I thought was odd. But I haven't called them yet. I assumed everything would have to be paid for. And I don't think I could afford to pay for Mickey and Minnie to show up! :) But I would love that so much! Could you imagine! :) Mickey or Minnie there!!

Great idea! But....Do we buy both and have the guest services person give it to us? Cute idea!

Well, I guess you might have to buy both. Good point. I don't think plush is returnable so that may not work. Maybe give the extra one away or just keep it too.

Couldn't you have a friend or family member call the Disney Florist with the result and have them place the plush in your room that way you will know once you check into your room? Then you could still have your picture taken with a balloon and or a sign that says "It's a ___" and then you can post the picture to your loved ones.

Oh....here's another thought. Not just one balloon but a bunch of helium balloons. Once you find out you keep one and let the rest float away. I can just imagine the balloons floating above you and your husband as you share a kiss holding onto the one single pink or blue balloon . You can keep the one balloon to add to your babies treasures. :cat:

I like the balloon idea. It's a good picture, fun, and easy to pull off. The more elaborate the planning, the more likely it is that someone involved will make a mistake somewhere. My advice would be to go for a magical moment, not a full scale theatrical production. Good luck!

I have to say I personally love the balloon idea! And I think someone mentioned to you'll have Cinderella's Castle in the background for pictures and everything. It will be beautiful! I do like the idea of the plush too. I'm sure you could buy one and just have the CM get it for you and wrap it up and that could be the reveal! I'll be down there that day! (well not in the park no park tickets for a short trip just running for the Princess weekend but will be staying at the Poly) hope to run into you! and congratulations too on the baby!
