My boys are making this hard....

I love them, I do but tonight as we have booked Poly Club in October/Nov, they start looking at the other resorts and because they are crazy and like to make me crazy, they decide we should book May at POR instead of GF Club since we are going to be back in the World 5mo later and this way we can get a Royal room(they are boys, why do they care other than it looks pretty cool!), book the Deluxe DDP and still come out under the GF Club level. My poor travel agent is going to pull her hair out if I change one more time. LOL I said "Why don't we just hold off changing hotels until we see what kind of discounts come out for May?" hoping that this would appease them but no, they are monsters(figures, since mom always said I would have a child just like I was and here I have TWO of them!) and don't want to chance possibly missing getting the moderate resort and DDDP and then in Oct going Poly Club, MNSSHP and no dining plan.

Thoughts on this? I haven't really looked at POR or POFQ because I want to be close to the parks with quick access back to my room in case a migraine hits(unpredictable even 21yrs later and I can get back to my hotel on my own while they stay in the parks) and this is our first ever trip so I think paying more for a closer resort(and having more than one way to get to the parks) and doing dining out of pocket sounds better. I am old and like convenience and luxury. LOL They are 26 and 17 and like to make me insane. My husband says "Whatever you guys decide...." he's so helpful. LOL

Thanks Marie! I guess it is all perspective! LOL Coming from DLR only, I think we have been spoiled by the parks being so close to each other. LOL I suppose there will be wait time no matter what. I also guess we should not get too tied to a resort since even though we are booked at GF and Poly, Stacy also knows we are flexible if a good discount comes up at one of the other resorts too.

Stacy is awesome and will definitely work to get you the best deals!!!! For a better feel perhaps take a look at the parks on Google Earth just to get an idea of the sheer size of the property? The difference will be stunning trust me!!! I've been to both and it is remarkable. I dont think you can go wrong at any of the Deluxe resorts really. They are all pretty magnificent. I prefer Yacht Club for location personally. My favorite parks are EPCOT and the Studios so I like being closer to that area. Marie

Thanks so much! Those darn boys of mine caved me! LOL After watching several youtube videos on POR, and the jokes they were making(while secretly coveting a Royal room LOL) had me cracking up, then checking out google earth and my Unofficial guide, I agreed to email Stacy and change May to POR. Those boys of mine could sell ice cream to an eskimo! But I warned them that October was Poly(they preferred it's theming to GF) and they agreed. Only to add "But since F&W is going on at Epcot, we might spend more time there and the only MK thing is MNSSHP so maybe we can stay at Yacht or Beach Club....." Again I curse them! And myself for researching and showing them options! LOL

Good to know thanks! So much to think about! LOL This morning my younger son expressed frustration about me planning and researching because I was comparing resorts and I said "This is not DLR, we do not know this area, these parks are worlds away from walking across the lot from DL to CA Adv and we need to at least know what we are getting in to at each place" and he stopped and thought for a moment and said "Ok, I get it. But whatever you decide will be great mom, I just want to go" LOL Half tempted to book older son at POR by himself on a dining plan and the rest of us stay at the GF! LOL Since he is paying for his part ya' know. ;)
Ding, ding, ding winner, winner, chicken dinner!

LOL! No I wouldn't but Stacy might kick your chair! LOL

I was reading the guide last night and they said that Disney charges $65 to change a reservation but I have not heard anyone on the boards mention that fee so I wonder if that is correct? Ah well, I think the savings overall is more that worth $65 if they do. LOL

That isn't correct on two fronts. There are change fees if a package reservation is changed 45 days or less from your arrival date but the change fee on anything I have ever done is $50.00. Perhaps there was another fee that was added on that we didn't know about? Give Stacy a shout and I'm sure she will guide you in the right direction and tell her I said "Sorry!!!" LOL LOL LOL Marie

CONGRATS! BTW I have a couple of tents I tell my boys they'll sleep in when they bother me!:D If you need a loaner let me know! Boys:confused::hilarious::arghh::banghead: :joyfull:
LOL! No! They would bother me just to be allowed to sleep in the tents! I've got two outdoorsy guys. We used to have to hide the camping gear because we would wake up to tents in the living room or the kids sleeping out in tents in the backyard.

This is probably waaaaay too late, but I just found/read this thread. First, Congratulations on having 2 trips planned!!! That is Awesome!

My way-late-comment is in regard to your mention in your first post about choosing the Premium DP. While it does allow for many more Table Service (TS) opportunities and some great meals, I've heard/read quite a few times that people found it to be a Lot of food, often times too much. Of course that depends on how much someone eats, and the type of dining experiences they want on their trip. Also, something to maybe keep in mind is that TS meals take more time, both for the meal & often to get to the location (and you will have 2 trips, so more days to try TS places, but spread them out a bit more than 2-3 in one day). Since you said that this is a first trip for you, you might find that you don't want to take that much time away from the parks.....or maybe you will be totally glad you did! Again, just different experiences. For us, the basic DP was a nice mix of TS and Counter Service. There is quite a variety of food choices for CS meals (they are not all fast food-type burger, pizza or chicken strips as some think). There is some good info out there to help guests find more varied and interesting CS options. Just a thought.....

I hope you have a Wonderful time on both of your trips!!! :D Jealous!!

Just a little something about your trip in October is that if you are staying at the Poly you can walk to the TTC and take the monorail straight to Epcot. So as far as a MK resort goes that would be the most convenient to Epcot and MK.
