MVMCP Question

If we went the week after Christmas could we still go to MVMCP? Not sure if it would still be going on after Christmas, can't seem to find any answers right now and didn't check around Christmas time as we just changed our plans and are thinking of going the week after Christmas.

Nope, the last party is held about a week before Christmas. You would still see the parade, though - and you'd see it during the day, which is a much better time to see it! I think they do Christmas fireworks at the MK, but am not sure. Epcot does their Christmas tag. I know that. :)

Other than the parade and fireworks, there isn't much reason to bother with MVMCP.

Do be aware that Christmas is THE BUSIEST time of the year and that the waits for EVERYTHING are long. You will wait for attractions, bathrooms, water - everything. And you'll wait a loooong, long time. You even have to wait to walk because there are just so many people. It's insane.

I waited over an hour just to get into the MK parking lot on the afternoon of Christmas Day. I'd put off riding the Jingle Cruise until Christmas Day because I thought it would be a fun treat, but we didn't even ride that because two hours was just unreasonably long.

Busy, busy, crammed, crowded, packed and super long waits for everything!!!

Nt trying to deter you, just letting you know what you're in for. I'd hate for anyone to spend a lot of money and be unprepared for how ridiculously crammed the parks are at Christmas, that's all.

As you already know by now, no MVMCP after Christmas, but you can still visit the Osborne Family Festival of Lights in HS which ends about the first week in January or so.

Not to derail the thread, but this post has me convinced that we will *never* go on Christmas week!! We do enjoy watching the Christmas parade on TV and thought it might be cool to watch it in person. No thanks!

I assume New Year's is the same way. Thought it would be really cool to watch the New Year's Fireworks from BLT, but will probably never do that!

The Christmas parade you see on TV is also pretaped, it's not the actual Christmas Day Parade atleast it wasn't when i was there Christmas Day. But the Parade for the MVMCP is the same parade they do during the holididay season. But i had a great time going for the holidays just to get away & be at Disney well thats all i'll say ha ha.

The Christmas parade on TV is filmed over several days, earlier in December. I thought the opening number this year was fantastic. I watched it over and over. You don't see that on Christmas, though.

On Christmas Day, you get the regular Christmas parade. It's really cute and is better seen during the day than at night, during the MVMCP. But it's not that TV extravaganza. So, you wouldn't miss that by skipping Christmas Day/week. :)

Going on Christmas Day was fun for me, but it is not an ideal time if you want to ride the rides and see things. The line for water...

I don't remember if blue scooter guy was in it or not. You wait a long time for everything, not just rides!

If you want to be in Disney World on Christmas, it's great. If you want a regular Disney vacation, another time might be better! :)

Ok thank you, guess I will save a little money on that. I would like to go the week before Christmas but kids have school.

While very crowded, the parks are still at least in holiday mode at that point. They usually switch out regular Wishes for Holiday Wishes at this point...among other things. So, you could still go when you stated and still get lots of great holiday festivities.

Yep, they were filming when we were there last month, on 8th December.

Yeah, no thanks! I've seen lines a couple of people deep for snacks, but never anything like that. Would hate to know what the lines are like at Toy Story Mania, Under the Sea, Soarin', or Test Track!! Thanks for the picture!

Also, thanks guys for the info on the parade! I don't know if they ever mention that during the show, but perhaps I just assumed that it was done on Christmas Day (also could be that they call it the "Disney World Christmas Day Parade")!

The first and only time I have been was to MK on New Years Eve around 96 so don't remember much but I don't remember it being super busy but that was a long time ago too. We are still in the planning stages and are not 100% yet on if we will go around this time or not. May just put off until 2015 when I plan to try to do the Princess Half Marathon.

I don't want to deter you. If you want to go for Christmas and your heart is set on that, then that's what you should do. :)

Estimated ride waits:
Really unpopular stuff - an hour
Moderately popular stuff - two hours
Super-popular stuff - three or more hours

Now you know everything and can make the best decision for your family, which I know you will!

Something tells me you don't remember much being that it was New Years Eve and the, um, indulgences you may have allowed yourself, and not the passage of time.
