Is it worth the extra cost of the tickets to attend the Christmas party at MK?
Trying to save a little where we can but don't want to miss out on something we have never done. Are the christmas lights on just for the party or do they have them everynight? Any info is greatly appreciated!:veryconfu

Yes
IMHO - no.

I've been to both the Halloween & Christmas parties and the Halloween one is way better/worth the extra $

HOWEVER - the Christmas parade IS cute, but I still don't think it's worth the extra $$

Are you talking about the castle-lights? The castle lighting ceremony is done during 'regular' guest hours - you don't want to miss it!

Hi, i definitely think it is worth the money! That being said I have never gone to the Haloween party, but the Xmas party is great. Parade is fun, there is less crowds so getting on the rides is very easy. we just made a continuous loop on SM until we actually got sick of riding it!! You get free cookies and hot chocolate and you get to interact up close with characters. The Xmas party was the best part of going at Christmas time.:sohappy:

Simply, no. It is not worth the extra cost. Years ago, yes, it was. Not anymore.

The Christmas lights are on every night.

Yes the parade is fun. Aside from that, the crowds are much heavier then they should be for a hard ticketed event. If you want to meet a character you WILL wait 20-30-40 even 60+ minutes to do so. The shows have been cut, and somewhat watered down too. All the while, the price of a ticket has risen.

IMO, there is just no value here. Skip it.

We've gone to the party for years and have to agree with this poster. Much too crowded for a hard ticket event. Crushed by crowds. Just wasn't that much fun the last couple of years. Makes me sad. :(

Very worth it. Shorter lines, two parades, free cookies and hot cocoa, Christmas Wishes fireworks, and you can take it easy until around 3pm then you can enter the park eventhough its from 7pm - 12am. So you can save a day in park tickets. It's just a great experience and most cast members are the nicest and kindest The feeling of sit and watch the parade as the snow shoots outta the top of the shops on main street: priceless.

We thought it was great! Snow on main street during the parade, hot cocoa, cookies, and light lines for rides. It was a great experience! I would do it again.

We have done it before and enjoyed, but at current prices, I really don't think it's worth it. Granted there are special meet and greets and cookies and hot chocolate, but that's not worth the $200 it would cost my family to go.

Two years ago I posed a similar question and got very similar replies...i.e. mixed. We opted to try MVMCP b/c I worried I'd have that "I missed the prom" feeling if I was there and didn't try it. After the we did it...I think we could have skipped it and been just fine.

The parade is cute, the fireworks are awesome, the CMs are really into the holiday spirit, and the cookies and hot cocoa were super yum. On the flip side, it was much more crowded than I expected. I seriously think it's the most crowded we saw MK that entire trip. We couldn't even get near any of the good character meet and greets and it felt like everything we wanted to ride had a 45 min wait. We waited for the 2nd parade and the crowds were still super thick at that late hour.

So, I guess what I'm saying is I wish I could rewind two years and tell me of then not to buy the tickets.

Hi there,

yes, I think it is so worth doing at least once in your life! The Christmas lights will be on and the "ice" covered castle every night - not just for the Christmas party. They make it "snow" on main street just for you and they have hot cocoa and cookies and a special parade. Character meet and greets are great too! Expect long lines for them though. All in all, something to do at least once. :xmas:

This is a yes , or no situation.

NO - For those who have done MVMCP year after year ,not much has changed except for the dated merchandise for the party, and the price.

YES - If this is your first time going to the party. Then you need to experience ,so you can you have been there, and done that moment. And then if you decide to visit WDW again next year at the same time..you can skip it, or do the party again .

We did it in 2009 the second week of Dec. Glad I did it but won't do it again. The parade to me was old school Disney, full of holiday cheer and tons of characters and great fun to watch but you had to claim your spot about an hour before. The castle show was so crowded we couldn't get a good view and they replaced the Tomorrowland stage show with the new and unimproved Stitch show. I really started to enjoy the party at around 11pm when it slowed down. Standing in front of the castle with the lights on and listening to music box chime Christmas music followed by the snow falling of Main St was very cool. As for the cookies and cocoa....seriously, how many cookies can you eat to justify calling it "getting FREE cookies"? Over all, I had the experience and now I know I won't miss it on our trip this Dec. The cast member were indeed extra friendly (except for the crowd control folks who had a rather hectic job).

Think for yourselfer
Lot's of talk about the "free" cookies and cocoa here. Firstly, the party cost has increased from $47.95 in 2007, and gone all the way up to $67 last year. Meanwhile, it seems to me, that they are letting in way more people for these events. Last year my wife and I attended. The line to meet the 7 Dwarfs was probably close to 2 hours early in the night, and over an hour the rest of the evening. Meeting the princesses was minimum 45 minutes as well. The lines for the "free" cookies and cocoa were even 10 minutes, sometimes way more depending on how staffed the location was. It is not something you HAVE to do just to say you did it. If it was free, or even just a much lower price point, then it might be worth it, just to say you did it. For the cost, it is just plain not worth it.

I would echo this. Try everything Disney has to offer at least once. And if you don't like it, then you'll know the next time around. But it is fun....

99% of the time I would agree with you. But for this, the cost makes it much more of a debate. For a family of 4, you are looking at a cost of around $250. Is there really $250 worth of value to the X-mas party? I don't think there is. Obviously others disagree, judging by the crowds.

I think it's something to try at least once. We sadly went on a night it was sold out and it was PACKED, but we still managed to do a lot. We didn't wait very long for characters, maybe 10-15 mins and at the end of the night about 5 to meet the Princesses. The parade ais great and the cookies and cocoa are tasty but the only way we would do it again is if it's a really slow time of year and not Veterans weekend.

And don't they show the Christmas parade daily during Christmas week?
