Perhaps it would help if the OP explained exactly what it is that a Campus Rep does and how many hours or days a rep works. Also if they get the same DISCOUNTS and privileges a regular cast member gets.

Why does any of that matter? It's not relevant to his original post.

As a Campus Rep, he is counted as a CM, for now. I'm not the OP, but I was able to get enough information from Google to know what a Campus Rep does, and I've already explained it, as has @The Empress Lilly. Should he really have to add a third explanation? When his position is gone, he'll no longer be a CM and won't get those discounts (whatever discounts he gets) any more, so he's trying to figure out what he needs to experience while he can still afford to do so (since he may not be able to after he loses his job).

I don't understand what about this is so hard for people to understand, and why people are being so rude? If I don't like a thread, or the OP rubs me the wrong way, I avoid the thread. Posting comments about whether or not the OP gets a certain discount, or dissecting every single word and twisting it into more than what he meant it to be, isn't helping anything. He's clearly losing his job, and wants to make the most of things while he can, and people are being judgmental? Way to drag someone through the mud while they're going through a tough time.

ditto. He could be all the way on the other side of the US as a campus rep and only step foot in the parks once a year to every few years.

No, you didn't explain what s campus recruiter does. Recruits students isn't exactly an explanation. Maybe I phrased the question poorly, but I just wanted an explanation about what a rep did and how much effort it took to try and understand why Disney was doing away with the position. I'm sorry anyone is losing a job or discount or whatever. I didn't make any comments. I didn't twist any words. I didn't drag anyone through the mud. I just asked for a better explanation of the position. I hope you have a Magical Day.

I did say what they do. They recruit college students for the college program much in the same way military recruiters recruit at high schools and colleges. Most people know that entails setting up booths on campus, talking to students, and helping them through the application process. What more explanation was needed? The way you worded that implied that you were harping on what kind of discount he gets... after all, the word discount was in all caps. Given how many other posts were already being so critical of him mentioning a loss of discount, and then yours being laid out the way it was, surely you can see why it appeared to be inflammatory. I apologize if I misunderstood but I'm not sure what else you wanted anyone to take from that.

You have a magical day as well.

Sorry about the caps. Typing on a Kindle produces unwanted results at times. I had no idea they set up booths or how often they do that. I probably should just ask my daughter. She did the program back in 2002. She must have had several encounters with the recruiter at her school. Still, I wonder how they will continue to fill the program or if responses via the internet make the recruiters unnecessary? How big an expense could this be in the grand scheme that is Disney?

Gotcha. Sorry if I misunderstood.

Recruiters typically set up space in high traffic areas on campus, where they talk to students and encourage them to join whatever program they are pushing. They often have posters, pens, bookmarks, etc... anything that advertises the program they are selling. They help students apply for said programs and answer any questions the recruitees may have.

It is interesting to hear that Disney is cutting this program. I wonder if that means anything for the college program they were pushing to start with.

Would have been Maelstrom but it closes before we possibly can get even close there. We will not arrive at WDW before at least November 11.th, too late for Maelstrom. :(
