MuppetVision 3D closing for a month-long refurbishment in the summer

I love this show, but I really really wish they would do a new movie it's time.

I disagree. I think the movie has been around long enough to get some nostalgia cred and should be kept. I think it holds up well for repeat viewings; DHS kinda lacks sentimental value to its attractions and I hope this one is kept intact long enough to be a canonical type ride for the park.

Just IMHO of course.

this among many others don't need just a refurbishment, they need a complete virtual overhaul to bring much of the things up-to-date

Yep. The movie, especially after the digital projection upgrade still looks it's something that could have been made recently. It's shocking to think it was made while Jim Henson was still alive.

I used to agree, then we had a kid and have been seeing it several times per year for the last 3.5 years and now I'm tired of it, lol. It would be nice wit they would at least remaster the movie. Full disclosure - I would LOVE a lot more puppets, like a whole area (not sure land was the correct word)!

I'm sure the digital projection upgrade it was remastered,or at least the digital transfer was good, it looks great.

Well I'm happy this is getting a refurbishment. I can't wait to see what they plan on doing with this just as long as the show itself is not modified. It should be kept the way it is since it shows the true Muppets as Jim Henson saw them. One of things I would love to see is more 4D interaction involved in the show itself.

Isn't this attraction the last thing Jim Henson has ever produced? I think because of that, I have a love for it.

I'm not sentimental about ANY hackneyed, past-its-prime-not-worth-the-refurb attractions in the parks. I also think Jungle Cruise needs to go. Yeah, it was a ride that existed in Walt's time, an original. So? It's aged badly. It's cheezy to the Nth degree. I feel embarrassment for it. I truly believe that Walt himself would have done away with it long ago. Likewise, I don't think MuppetVision should be kept just because it was one of Jim Henson's last projects. I've read that Disneyland's version may be done away with to make room for a Monstropolis attraction. That would be great IMO. I hope something similar happens to the WDW version, and soon.

Same goes for CoP. Air conditioning should stay, attraction should go.
(IMHO, as always).

A great thing they could do is make it HD somehow. The current movie quality wise isn't very great so somehow enhancing the quality would be great. New HD tvs would also be great because some of the tv's in the queue are are a little fuzzy and sorta ruins some of the other ones that are HD.

Not sure if you've seen it lately, but it's definitely in HD. Even though, even on on film it was HD. I'm pretty sure you're referring to maybe the color or graininess. I think the film looks great now. When was the last time you saw it?

While I love to see new attractions, I also believe that there are certain attractions at each park that should be preserved - Jungle Cruise would be one of those at MK and Muppet 3D would be one at DHS. Update the annimatronics and the 4D effects, but the integrety of the original attraction should remain in tact. My kids were 8, 10, and 12 when we all had our first Disney experince: Disneyland in Feb. '99 and then WDW in June '99. And, while we all LOVE WDW, there is something very special about Disneyland because it was the first. My 8 yr. old would say in amazement, "Walt was really here!" Of course Jungle Cruise is cheezy - that's part of it's charm! I agree that the animatronics need to be updated, but there's a very historical feeling when you're riding in the boats at Disneyland and you think that those animatronics paved the way for the amazing life-like things that are being built today. I loved the new Muppet Movie, but II kind of see the Muppet 3D movie as kind of a salute to Jim Hensen, as it was one of his final projects.

History and nostaligia are just as important as progress. It provides a frame of reference. And, who among us doesn't look forward to riding some of those same cheezy rides over and over again, remembering how exciting it was riding it as a child, and seeing that same excitement in the face of your children and grandchildren? My 2 cents worth! :)

Ah, but Uncle Walt once said, "Disneyland isn't a museum". And it certainly isn't Jim Henson's museum. Disney was known for nostalgia but also progress and innovation. Another of Walt's sayings is "Keep moving forward". The Jungle Cruise ride was considered a wow when it first opened, but now it is LAME in the extreme and has no "charm" IMO, certainly not the same kind of charm older attractions like Small World can claim. Either update it or gut it and put something else in there. I bet it'll happen someday.

To each their own, but I would not be upset in the slightest is IASW was removed from all of the Disney Parks. Personally, I don't think it has charm at all (it's just some poor quality AAs in different outfits singing a single annoying song) while Jungle Cruise is far more engaging, interesting and endearing. The spirit of Jungle Cruise with it's light hearted commentary embodies what Disney is about to me.

Sorry I meant the color. The film has gotten older so some of the colors are not very bright and sometimes are dull.
