News MuppetVision 3-D's Future: Potential Disney Park Venues and Vision Pro Immersive Experience

I love the film and believe it should be archived for public viewing somehow given its long tenure and being Henson's last major project, but if we are to get a new show in a different theater, I'd almost rather get a live Muppet Show. They could re-use some of the old animatronics like the penguins and Statler/Waldorf and still have Sweetums walking around.

I'm extremely confused every time I see some of these suggestions.

Places like Mickey Shorts Theater have no room for any of the stuff that makes Muppet Vision great. Don't bother if they're just going to reduce it to its film elements. I believe these would also remove the hilarious preshow. Again, making the experience significantly worse but expecting positive reactions because they're still technically there.

Muppet Vision without the animatronics, effects, and Sweetums isn't Muppet Vision. It turns it into exactly the kind of show it's poking fun at.

And I just don't expect them to actually transfer the whole show. It would be a huge waste of time and energy and I just really doubt they care enough to do so.

The VR option seems like the most realistic one. It sucks still. But it seems like the most realistic one.

I don't know about Epcot. How many people go to the Magic Eye Theater? I would equate that to it is where short films go to die. I think better that Muppets remains in HS. Interesting that you didn't mention the disney Jr. theater. Retheme Animation Courtyard to Muppets and put MV3D in there.

Yep I would agree with that. I think for the in-park experience, anything less than the existing will seem like a half-baked gesture. Moving it to Vision Pro is a new medium, and it could be extremely good. Only problem is, limited audience until price comes downs.

It'll probably be a 2D version on D+ if we're lucky (maybe the 3D version on Vision Pro although that price point sucks). Not optimal but beats having the film lost forever.

I agree that a scaled down MV3D wouldn't work, but I disagree with the opinion that getting to experience a live Muppet Show with live puppets would not work. It seems like every time they do a show with the live puppets it has been well received. As much as I love MV3D, seeing the "real" Kermit in Liberty Square a few years back was amazingly surreal even as a full grown adult.

A live puppet show would be very nice and I wouldn't be against it (presuming the writing was good), but I consider that a separate idea than Muppet Vision. I was commenting on the claim that they're thinking of ways to preserve Muppet Vision.

Gotcha. In that respect, I agree with your assessment.

I think we’ll see it on Disney plus… possibly with a documentary about its creation and legacy as Jim’s final project. And hopefully they’ll reuse some props or AAs in the RNRC retheme

I’ll take even scaled down, or at least something Muppet related taking over the Racing Academy once the Villains test is done and Muppet RNRC is complete. Put in Fozzie Bear’s Laugh Factory, or some such with a Fozzie animatronic and the Waldorf and Statler ones from Muppet Vision. Just something to make a cohesive little area.

I think I had the first mention of this. And now, 1.5 years later, here I am mourning the further destruction of old-school Disney-MGM Studios.
