Muppets

Not sure what I'm getting into on this thread, but I have to say, I do still like the show somehow.

I think the execution for revitalizing the Muppets has been quite poor. The movies were kind of lackluster and they couldn't get the casual fan interested enough in caring about it. The second one in particular didn't do nearly as well as anticipated after the first had decent success.

It seems "old." It's sad, because I don't think the concept or characters are not likable. I don't think they've done a good enough job connecting with kids again and making them "cool" like other child favorites.

I hope they keep the show and re-film it and/or make the show more of a "live" show.

That area of DHS is yet another place in DHS they've allowed to go downhill. If they're going to keep Muppets as a brand, they need to give the attraction some TLC.

It's classic, but they seem to be somewhat failing on the relaunch.

Excellent points @Chef Mickey, although I'd probably disagree with your thoughts on the two movies.

The Muppets are kind of making a "re-comeback" now with their TV show. MMW put a bit of a brake on them, but they are back on their feet and now they are going to revitalize the characters, and with a new show they can reach broader bases and audiences.

Either way, I agree that the film should be updated. I love it, but I'd be totally okay with moving on for the good of the attraction and the franchise, only as long as it is replaced with new Muppety things.

Hey, you know, Tomorrowland flopped. Should we therefore gut Tomorrowland from the Magic Kingdom? Going by Magenta Panther logic, yes!

That's your "logic", not mine. Rumors of the closure of Muppetvision in Disneyland had been floating around since at least 2013 - and that was because the attendance in that theater was even lower than it was for the movie theaters that showed their flop second film. Sparse crowds is what killed that attraction - it was doomed long before that stinkeroo sequel.

By YOUR "logic", Disney would have torn down the Haunted Mansion after that Eddie Murphy debacle several years ago.

I gotta ask - is all you can do around here is tell lies and try to start flamewars? You seem to contribute very little else. The way to keep me out of this dedicated Muppet thread is to stop talking about me. I don't care if you and the others here want to talk about your favorite puppet characters. So are you here to do that, or do you want to keep getting your butt kicked by posting dopey flame-bait?

So what, pray tell, is the logic for your argument to close Muppets at DHS? Every time I've been there in the past few years there's been a decent sized audience. Not a packed house mind you, but nowhere even close to near the three guests myself included on my last visit to Captain EO.

It's a tad hard to believe that the exact same show that played at Disneyland, a show that was such a graveyard that it was always being pre-empted and was finally shuttered, is somehow more popular in WDW. Also, there are actual Disney classics that could go in that space and certainly deserve a place there more than an ill-advised purchase. I think it's likely that theater will be razed and something else will replace it - although, sadly, the likely replacement will probably be another off-studio IP like Star Wars. :p (Although at least that IP actually makes money).

Two things about that... first it was located in DCA which was basically empty in any area you care to think about. Second... as stated earlier the demography of Florida is hugely different from California. In Florida it is in a park that was about entertainment and it is still not an empty theater.

You really are carrying this far beyond the point where anything you say about the Muppets is taken seriously. It is just to tunnel visioned to be considered an argument. You just don't like it and you don't want anyone else to see it. I do not understand that form of illogical thinking. My advice is to just walk right by it, shake your head in disgust on your way past it, mutter a few words under your breath about how awful it is and go to something that you like. This obsession with depriving others of something that they like because you don't is wearing pretty thin.

Oh, and I will take your advice and no longer prompt you into replying.

I just need to say that was the best response to our resident troll that I've heard the whole time on this forum. Bravo!

And besides, the only reason they got rid of it in California was because they wanted a place to put the Frozen show. If it weren't for said Frozen show, it'd probably still be sitting (empty, I'll admit) in Hollywood Boulevard.
