Are there any rumors (or any news) about a Muppet presence at HS around the time of the new movie? I'll be visiting until Oct 31 and was hoping to see something special related to the movie.

I remember reading where Drew said something was being worked on about a year ago. Sadly, never heard anything else. The Hensons do not want walk around characters in the park. So the only option is some sort of realistic, interactive puppet experience.

I would like to see them around the park too.
And Disney currently owns the The Muppets, from characters down to the actual terminology "Muppet". The Hensons would have no say if they can be in the park. That is why Disney had to take out "Jim Henson" from the title Muppet*Vision 3D, and the new movie is titled The Muppets with no Jim Henson. (actually all the movie posters say Disney The Muppets)

This is correct, they now own the Muppets lock, stock, and Gonzo's Barrel. ;)

I always was told the reasons Piggy and Kermit don't do M&G anymore is because of the size issue - as the Muppets are already "real", it's more difficulty to translate them into human sized costumes and they don't go over as well. I can agree - they look very odd.

I really wanna see more of the "living character" stuff with the Muppets. It's almost a crime that Disney hasn't done AA's of all of them at this point. There isn't a more perfect match out there for AA's - since Muppets are already puppets to begin with.

They were discontinued quite a long time ago per request of the Hensons.

What I find interesting is that they are the same kind of characters used for Sesame Place..And since they used them for 2 shows at DHS several years ago..I see no problem of them being back if the new movie does good.

But, I also recall about another living character rumor about a Electric Mobile Mayhem that was rumored awhile back...But, I haven't heard of anything lately about it.

Whatever happened to the Muppet roaming lab, living character initiative thing? I was hoping that would come to DHS at some point.

It would be great if the Muppets were available in the parks for M&Gs. Here's a pic from the last time I remember seeing them (summer, 2003):

Wow...Big muppets are almost as odd as seeing them from the waist down... I think it any increased Muppet presence in the parks will come from the success of the movie

What about something similar to the meet and greet with Donkey from Shrek at Universal Studios? That could work for The Muppets.
