Mulan's new look

I'm surprised that never been thought of before. I'm imagining the cricket cage to work similar to how the cage Tinkerbell was in for the "Share A Dream Come True" Parade.
That's exactly what I was thinking!

And to add to my original point, dressing Mulan like they have been is pretty disingenuous to her character: she sings about how being dressed that way isn't her at all. You'd think they'd dress her in the outfit that she chose to wear, not the one forced upon her to conform with the perceived standards of beauty. I'm not trying to rant here or seem like an extreme feminist or anything, it just seems like such a simple "fix".

I pray that's sarcasm...or at least that you mean at MK and not Epcot...
No I have realized that Disney-fying World Showcase is a wise move. Much less expensive than a 5th gate and delays that need by a decade or so. They have to fix DHS first though.

I know you're talking about the Disney version of Mulan, and I agree with what you say. It'd be really cool to see her in her war armor like how she appears in the Shangahi Disney parade.. on that giant metal horse! Omg I want that.

It's just funny you mention the outfit that she chooses, because in the real legend of Mulan, she actually chooses to appear in a pretty dress like a dainty flower after the war. She doesn't get found out like in the Disney movie. She chooses to expose herself during the celebration after the war ends a whole 12 years later. Im just gonna pretend this new outfit is just her being the badass lady she is, so masculine that she isn't afraid to show her lady side.

Ok im done. Lol!

Is this dress a part of the movie? I don't think it is.

For a face character, I believe the clothing should very closely resemble an outfit they've worn in the movie or whatever source they come from. Because if the CM actor does not closely resemble the character (which they do not) and the outfit does not closely resemble the character... well, now it's just some random person. Had I come across that picture of Mulan out of context. I'd think it was a photo of a nicely dressed lady in China. You'd have to tell me or indicate to me that this is character for me to know it was Mulan.

Whatever cultural inaccuracy exists is fine. There's nothing to do about it now. What's better, being accurate to the movie, or being accurate to the culture? I guess Disney decided the latter. And I disagree with their opinion.

I like the new looks, and in fact, I think they look better. But that type of improvement just doesn't make sense and will cause confusion, especially among people who are only vaguely familiar with the movies. Or to anyone who looks back at their photos 50 years from now and thinks "who the heck was that?"

On the bright side, this whole deal with clothing inaccurate to the movie will hopefully set the precident for Disney to better cover the Navi when Pandora opens. :D

Calm your pectorals, kids. The Aladdin redesigns are for the broadway show. Professional stage productions always get redesigns like this to better suit the medium.

The Aladdin Broadway costumes were designed two plus years ago now and have been in use since the show opened, and these are not those costumes. Aladdin and Jasmine are separately being redesigned for the parks.

Very good. Now we just need a new attraction designed around her. E Ticket preferably.

while I am sure you are being sarcastic. lol.

It sparked my imagination on what a possible Mulan ride would be like. A dark ride like Ariel or Peter Pan, a boat ride like Frozen or Small world, or something else. in the spirit of China and world showcase. Not sure it would quite work, even from an educational standpoint. I dont see Kids really caring as much. Unless it was told from mushu's point of view. having Eddie Murphy as a guide couldnt be that bad

90% sure these are aladdin & jasmine's redesign. not a fan.

I'm not really a fan either... I think it would be okay, but that high collar piece is really odd. I feel like if that had gone for a different neckline, it would look a lot better. It's almost like they did a VERY loose take on a Moroccan takchita (yes, I know Agrabah and Morocco are completely separate entities and have no connection whatsoever besides the shoehorning in epcot), but completely missed the mark. Aladdin's alright though.
