Moving Sidewalks

When I was at the Haunted Mansion at Disneyland a couple of weeks ago I saw an older woman going to get on the moving sidewalk and she said something to the castmember. He then pressed a button on a remote control. This slowed down the moving sidewalk so she could get on the doombuggies easily. My question is...Do the attractions at Disney World that have moving sidewalks have this option too? It would help my mom a lot. She is planning to avoid these attractions because she gets dizzy with that motion, and she doesn't want them to stop the ride just so she can get on. Thanks!

Yes they do the only rides I know that have them are Haunted Mansion, Buzz Lightyear Space Ranger Spin and Space Ship Earth.

Haunted Mansion, Buzz lightyear- I have seen them slowed down for handicap people
People mover and POTC exit- I have not
POTC has an elevator option.

I guess there's also the question of whether the moving sidewalk makes the OP's mother off-balance simply because it's moving (stepping from solid ground onto moving ground), or if it's going from the sidewalk into a vehicle while both are moving. I mention it because the speedramp at the exit to Pirates is for transport only. You enter and exit the boats while they're standing still. The ramp is there to simply aid people up the hill.
The exit from Space Mountain has a very long moving sidewalk that (as far as I know) is unavoidable.

The "creep" mode on the Omnimover attractions was designed primarily to give a Guest more time to enter the vehicle before reaching the end of the loading platform. The side benefit to it is that it can also be slowed for people who have trouble getting on/off the moving platform at the normal speed.

There's also moving sidewalk loading areas at the Nemo ride-through in the Seas, which I assume can be slowed down. From what I hear, the Peter Pan moving sidewalk cannot be slowed, as it's not an Omnimover attraction, and they try their best to not stop Pan at all for handicapped Guests.

Yup, Nemo's can be slowed down, and is frequently. I'm not sure if it's an option on Kali River Rapids, but it probably is.

thanks for the info. Mom just has troubles getting on and off the ride vehicles but a long stretch of the moving sidewalk like at Space Mt is okay. I don't remember there being a moving sidewalk after POTC is this something new?

The thing that causes me issues with these sidewalks is that the moving sidewalk and the ride aren't always moving at the same speed!

I was wondering that as well.
A couple times getting on the sidewalk to then get into the ride car, I have almost fallen over! And I am 25 years old!! I have often wondered if this is a problem for older people or handicapped people. Some of them seem very fast and can get you off balance very easily.

Nope been there forever. However, like he said, its after the ride to bring you back up to the gift shop.

arent there moving sidewalks on the TTA too? i dont know if that counts though....and i dont remeber there being one at potc either, but i guess im wrong lol :shrug:

The ramp on TTA ( going up to ) can be stopped completely. One time we went my DD had just gotten out of a cast from a broken ankle and she could not negotiate the moving ramp so they stopped it altogether. I also have problems with the moving platforms but have never needed them stopped, just a hand or arm to grab due to bad knees.
Kali also has a moving ramp as well as HM and I think Peter Pan or Snow White.
