Trip Report Movin' In? Two Weeks in the World!

Hello! My husband (Brad) and I (Amy) just got back from a 2 week trip to Walt Disney World, and had a blast! We are frequent visitors and last year we decided to stay at WDW for 2 weeks so we could take touring slow and do things we've wanted to do but never had time to put in the schedule. It was heavenly to have so much time to play with, and of course in the end when it came time to leave we weren't quite ready (although our wallets were!).

I hope you enjoy a recap of our adventures, please share any thoughts or questions you might have! :) It will be full of pictures too (including food!).

I am going to take a brief break to tag a few people here on the boards that have expressed interest in my travels and some that might be. If I missed anyone sorry, but everyone is welcome! :D

Thanks for the great updates! Loved it to read this TR!

Great TR!!! I hope someday we can go for 2 weeks!

Thanks for following along!

Yachtsman is my DH and my favorite Disney restaurant. We have to go at least once ever time we go. The Truffle Mac n Cheese is awesome. I am like you, I detest mushrooms but adore truffles. I will be there in a little over three months!!! Can't wait!

I bought the WDW/Disneyland cookbook on our trip (it has a black cover) and the recipe for the truffle mac and cheese is in there. I am looking forward to making it sometime soon. I need to get some truffle oil next time I grocery shop.

Thanks @MinnieM123, I'm glad you like my photos. I do like that exit of the American Adventure too. Maybe next time you go you can treat yourself to a Cali meal too, remember you can eat at the lounge too!

Yes. Every year I go down there, I tell myself I'm going to sit in the lounge and have dinner there. But I always stop short, as I don't bring "nicer" looking dinner clothes with me. I only bring play clothes for the parks and pool, etc. (I wish Cali would do "take out"?! :hilarious: O.k. o.k, I know that's not going to ever happen!! :p )

When we did our monorail lounge tour we were wearing shorts and a tee shirt, we did feel a little under-dressed but no one said anything and we still got top notch service. So your play clothes would be fine. I love that you call them play clothes!

Yes, truffle oil is something I really need to purchase. I wonder if it can make Kraft Mac n cheese taste like the Yachtsman's?

Ivory Tower Squabble EST 2011. WINDMILL SURVIVOR
Day 5: June 25....It's our Anniversary. 11 years for us.

Today was the day to ride the new Frozen ride, so I had planned ahead and brought my Maelstrom shirt to wear. Brad said it was a silent protest, I said it was just a tribute to the past. I have Norwegian heritage, and while I think that Frozen is a good movie I wasn't in favor of a total rehaul of the attraction maybe putting in something to compliment Norwegian culture with the characters. Imagineers didn't consult me though, so I will have to live with it and hope children don't grow up thinking that Arandelle is a real place in Norway. In the end I did enjoy the ride and rode it two more times and I will ride it again in the future.

Anyway, we started the day with Soarin' which I think will always be a favorite. We also love to listen to the WDW Radio podcast and the host Lou Mongello was having a meet of the month at the Land so we stopped in to say hello. He is a really nice guy (at least that was our impression the couple times we've met him) and sometimes gets slammed because he is always so positive on his podcast but that is why we like it so well. There is so much negativity in the world we enjoy the positivity. The show is well researched too, I listen to a couple other podcasts and often detect mistakes in their information but I never had in his (but there could be I suppose).

After that it was over to Mission Space, orange for me and green for Brad.

Then to Frozen...Spoiler alert....Frozen Ride pictures below....

In the queue make sure you check out this board, it has some fun things to read on it. It is located shortly after you enter the building.

Sorry the pictures are a little blurry, I was not patient with getting good shots.

I have mixed emotions with Lou. His Trivia site was and now defunct was my first experience with Disney Forum boards. I've seen the good bad and the ugly. He is an extremely intelligent person. Beyond an excellent attorney. An accredited technical author of college curriculum still in use today. I admire his vast knowledge of Disney and the Business World.

Still after knowing him through his original launch well over a decade ago into the world of Disney through trivia I am more than disappointed in his ability to embrace people to his advantage and then forget them when they are no longer useful. I've watched devoted friends and supporters get totally blown off, people I considered my friends hurt by the lack of appreciation for their friendship and contributions to his success over the years as his business endeavors changed. It was seen in his abandonment of his forums their final 5 years before he shut them down completely though they were run until then by loyal friends that dwindled over time. A great majority that landed instead on this site. So I have a great respect for his knowledge but less for his genuine sincerity. He has that evangelical ability to lore people into his world. His wife though, an awesome woman that seems to be able to keep him grounded. That lady I have a great deal of respect for. Interestingly he was a member here under a different member name than we know him as.

Thanks for sharing! Loved your report :) I totally agree with you, we were there for 13 days and it did not seem like enough...I needed more! haha

Thanks! Sometimes I wonder if even a month wouldn't be enough time! :) Seriously though, when I tell people that we went for 2 weeks they ask if we got bored. I'm thinking in my head that they are crazy, especially when I tell them no and they don't seem to believe me.

Wonderful report on a very fun trip!

Thanks, I loved reading your report too!:)
