It’s a Fried Chicken Celebration at Disneyland Resort by Alex Dunlap, Food & Beverage Content Relations Coordinator
If you love fried chicken, Disneyland Resort has you covered! To express your love for this delicious dish and in honor of National Fried Chicken Day on July 6, you’re invited to join in on the fun during the inaugural Fried Chicken Celebration, taking place July 6-8.
Fried Chicken can be found in two locations at the Disneyland Resort: Plaza Inn at Disneyland park and Flo’s V8 Café in Disney California Adventure park. Both restaurants are fan-favorite dining experiences, serving their unique take on this all-American specialty! So what’s the big deal about our fried chicken?

The Plaza Inn, formerly known as the Red Wagon Inn, has been feeding Disneyland park guests since opening day. Walt Disney’s wife Lillian handpicked many of the restaurant’s authentic 19th-century interior furnishings, creating a lavish Victorian setting. The restaurant’s signature chicken plate features three pieces of herb-seasoned fried chicken served with mashed potatoes, mixed vegetables and a buttermilk biscuit.

Chef Jonny Hall, culinary director at Disneyland park, explains “our [Plaza Inn] sweet and savory brined chicken is lightly coated in a secret flour blend of garlic and spices, then fried under pressure to create a delicate and magical crunch. This simple approach known as ‘broasting’ results in a distinct deep golden brown color and crispy exterior, and an unbelievably juicy interior.”

Flo’s V8 Café is a Route 66-inspired diner set in the middle of Cars Land. This nostalgic pit stop features automotive touches, including vintage-style gas pumps and tailpipe light fixtures! Flo’s Famous Fried Chicken is served with roasted garlic mashed potatoes, gravy and seasonal vegetables.

Chef John State, culinary director at Disney California Adventure park, shares “our [Flo’s V8 Cafe] chicken sings of toasted flour and notes of a rich egg batter scented with prominent ground black pepper spice. While the exact science to this recipe is a secret that’s only known to Flo, we use a traditional basket fryer, ensuring there is a pronounced crunch with every bite and the meat is filled with sweet-salty juices.”
Join us throughout this summer—and especially July 6-8 in honor of National Fried Chicken Day — as we celebrate our favorite fried poultry dishes. What’s your favorite spot to enjoy fried chicken? Follow along and join the social media conversation using #FriedChickenCelebration.

Conspicuously absent in all this is any mention of the brand new Poultry Palace. But I guess Pixar Fest is such a smashing success that they don't want to confuse people with an overlapping promotion.

Let me get this straight: the Fried Chicken Celebration is you can go to the two restaurants that normally sell Fried Chicken, and you can buy the usual Fried Chicken meal, and pay the regular price. Oh, and the Celebration only lasts 3 days.

Have I got this right?

I've never heard the term "magical crunch" uttered before until now.

I don't know how to feel.

"Fried Chicken Celebration". Friggin... fried chicken.

Chapek: Attendance is down and we need something to bring the suckers in!
Intern: *spins wheel* fried... chicken? Celebration?
Chapek: Promote this kid stat. We've got a hit on our hands!

I haven't laughed this hard in weeks. I thought it was a joke at first.

The most jarring thing about this is that they literally announced nothing. What will be operationally different about this weekend than any other weekend? Discounts? Decor? Merchandise? I joke that the DPB articles say nothing but this time they actually said nothing.

Anyway I love fried chicken. Slightly cannibalistic I know I know.

But... but... a shiny new logo! Fried Chicken Celebration is coming and there's nothing you naysayers can do about it.
