mary says tomorrow disney will unveil discounted packages for november to feb
maybe thats why no AP rates???
interesting...

Ugh, it doesn't start till November so where's the AP discounts for Sept. and Oct.?:(

Also it is for "packages" and most of us AP holders aren't interested in packages:lookaroun

So I guess it is back to off-site for me. I really hate that 10 minute drive:lol: from my hotel on 192 to the parks but hey off season it is half what Disney charges if they don't offer a discount and for my December trip it is a third the cost of on-site.:D

I need 10 rooms at the Poly in January, so if you're thinking of staying there around that time, please wait until Wednesday to book. :animwink:

I posted this in another thread/forum and think that it goes in this thread as well.

Discount packages which include UPH passes are the new way dicounted rooms are being offered. AAA, Florida residents, Cast Members and a few other groups still get room only discounts. I hate to say this, but AP holders were never promised room discounts. An AP gets you into the park 365 days at a very good price. $369 for an AP vs. $329 for a seven day park hopper sounds already like a great deal without any possible discounts! Really, what is the motivation for buying an AP? To enter the park in a cost effective way or to get a Disney version of an Entertainment discount card?

I hope that I have not made anyone mad with my post, but this is the official point of view from my experience with Disney Marketing and DRC. Again, I'm sorry if my post offends any AP holders.

Agree:D Discounts can mean the difference between one trip or multipul trips. It can also determine on-site vs off-site.

I'll still not mad at you SuperMatt:D Just totally disagree with current marketing theory:eek:

Of course I would also like to see Roy as CEO but didn't have enough shares to get that:lookaroun

Matt... you haven't made me mad, but Disney is starting to make me mad. I am a DVC member, AP holder, Disney Visa Card owner, Disney stockholder. I spend thousands of dollars in Disneyworld every single year.

Is it too much to ask that they knock a few bucks off my room rate to thank me for my loyalty? If not, maybe I should investigate other ways to spend my vacation dollar.

I work in marketing... need I explain to you the cost of acquiring a new customer versus the cost of simply retaining a customer you already have?

If Disney is expecting us "fanatics" to pay any price, that simply isn't going to fly...

Disney is obviously trying to entice the folks that don't usually get any discounts which frankly are the majority of people. In general unless you are an employee, a FL resident or ,in the past ,an AP holder you got nothin' unless they were offering a deal or you got a code. Now it seems that the tide has turned.

But don't most AP holders live in FL and are therefore eligible for FL resident discounts on DW accomodations? I think this is a good marketing scheme for Disney and I probably would participate in this new package if I wasn't able to get a room only discount another way.

No, there are alot of us that are non-FL residents that travel there a few times a yr.

I drive from Knoxville. I think you will find alot of Forum members are AP holders from outside FL.

I posted the complete details of this package yesterday. Please keep in mind that as a travel agent and sponsor on this forum, I also offer the same exact packages/discounts as mousesavers.
