I have downloaded and printed envelopes for each day I am there. On the outside of the envelope it has a space to fill in From. Do you write your names or your room numbers on the outside? Im going with one of my girl friends and I want to know how you guys have done it.

The first time I printed and used those envelopes, I put "The ____________ Party". Using the name the room was reserved under. Since then I have been printing up my own envelopes with Disney clip art
( http://www.disneyclips.com/ )
that matched the theme of the resort. It seems a little more personal. On our last trip I ran out of time beforehand and just took plain envelopes that I drew Mickey pictures on or added stickers from the parks.

We don't usually use them, but put "from the _______ family in Room ____" or
" from _____ & _____ (first name) in Room ______".

I've always used plain envelopes that either myself or the kids have decorated. They say "Mousekeeping" in big fancy letters and "Thank you" on the lower right corner.

I like the idea of "from the ______ party" or just the room number.

I print up some cards on business card stock. Usually I put "Thank You from the ____ Family", our home town and the dates with a Disney character picture. I never thought of putting the room number since they are already there.

I print our dining reservations on these seperate cards, too. They have the name of the restaurant, date/time, our last name (since it's hard to spell for most) and the conformation number.

What is the average tip the majority leaves Mousekeeping each day?

Depends, If we've had our hair cut on Main Street, USA and washed out the coloured gel and pixie dust in the tub (so messy) or if we are left towel animals, we usually leave a little extra.

When it was just Dh and I, we left $5 since they kept adding more towel decorations, including a basket filled with flowers!

When I was there by myself in Dec, I left about $3 each day, $1 just seemed too little.....but I agree that $1 a person is a good figure.

The envelopes are a great idea....I just usually leave it on the pillow....how impersonal! :hammer:

On my way out on my last day, I saw my mousekeeper, and she thanked me for all of the tips I had left her. I thanked her for my cute towel gingerbread boys she made! She was so sweet!

I was at Caribbean Beach from Nov. 20-26, 2006.
I left tips every day on the nightstand for Mousekeeping.
I did not notice anything special left for us. :veryconfu We were hoping for towel animals. We had gotten them in February when we stayed at Pop Century.
Oh well! I still fell good that I was a tipper.

Tipping your mousekeeper does not mean you will get any towel animals, nor does the amount you leave; It depends on the specific mousekeeper, their proficiency at making them (not all are skilled in the art) and the amount of time they have to spare.

When we checked into the Boardwalk Inn the other summer our room was already decorated and we received no others during our stay.

i feel bad. the last thread i read about this, a couple of people was saying not to do this because it gets them in trouble.

i feel so bad because at animal kingdom, our mousekeeper was african... and i hated not leaving a tip for her from one black woman to another... i didn't want her to think i was being cheap.

AT THE SAME TIME...

i didn't like how she kept my room either.

:(

i still feel bad for not leaving a tip.

hmmmmm

its nice to read this thread. i'll have to be prepared for next time.

Yes I did get the envelopes from here ---> http://www.themouseforless.com/downloads/trip/mousekeeping.shtml as someone already kindly posted.

As for them getting in trouble, Ive read on here that if the tip is specifically identified "For Housekeeping" or "For Mousekeeping" They will not get in trouble. Money left out cannot be definately identified as a tip in a hotel room. Since it is my first trip, I will let you know how it goes! Thanks for the input everyone! I leave on January 31!!!

We (DD17 & me) stayed @ CBR in November and tipped $3/day. I made our own envelopes, Mickey stickers from the dollar store & cartoony lettering in red & black marker with sayings like "Thanks, Mousekeeping!" or "Good Work - You're the Best!". I even made one that said "Good-Bye" for our last day. I actually had the money already in them before we left home - didn't have to worry about keeping out dollar bills for tipping and was one less expense already taken care of. And we did get a couple towel animals - a bunny and a turkey for Thanksgiving.
