Most Interesting Way From DTD to MK?

My daughter has an early appointment at the BBB in DTD one morning in August, after which we will be making the obligatory journey to the MK for lunch at CRT. But we have several hours between the 2 events, allowing us a leasurely travel between the two locations. I know I can take a bus from DTD to any hotel (we'll be at POP), and then another bus from that hotel onto MK - but I was thinking there must be a more interesting route. I'm considering taking the ferry from DTD to POR, then grabbing a bus. And I'm also considering taking a bus to one of the monorail resorts, then riding that to MK (my daughter hasn't ridden it yet). Which would be more fun for a 7 year old? Does anyone have any other creative, fun ideas? If we go with the bus to a monorail hotel plan, which hotel would give us the longest monorail ride?

Here is a route:

Go from DTD to the Beach Club (or any of the Epcot Resorts), then walk through Epcot via the International Gateway (maybe take in a ride or a snack). Get on the monorail at Epcot, and you will then have the longest monorail ride there is from Epcot to MK. :)

Cool idea - but if your daughter is small enough for the BBB, the walk from the Boardwalk bus stop to the Monorail at Epcot could ruin her for the rest of the trip!! That's quite a hike! Plus you have to have the parkhopper option to make that work.

Alternate suggestion - take the boat from DTD to POFQ or POR, (beautiful and relaxing), take the bus to Epcot, and then ride the Monorail to the TTC and then transfer and ride on to the MK!

You'll see so much, and I think you get to ride the Monorail through the Contemporary when you go that direction.

Have Fun!!!

Take the bus from DTD to Animal Kingdom Lodge. There is a sick window at the end of the lobby with a view of the savannah, and many other little outlook places.
IF you have Park Hopping, bus it to MGM Studios, then take the boat to the International Gateway at Epcot, then (a la Steve) walk through Epcot to the Monorail to the TTC and switch to the Magic Kingdom Monorail.
IF you do not have Park Hopping, take the bus from AK Lodge to Animal Kingdom so you can catch a bus to Epcot. Ride the Epcot Monorail to the TTC, then to MK. (Also, if you ride the Epcot Monorail into Epcot from the TTC, you get a bird's eye tour of Epcot)

That should take up about three hours, depending how long you spend at Animal Kingdom Lodge and Epcot. Although I have to wonder, will your DD appreciate all this planning, or will she really just want to go to the parks and show off her 'do?

Unfortunately. I don't think that the ferry from Downtown Disney to Port Orleans doesn't start up until 4PM. (But I could be wrong)

For the longest resort monorail ride to the Magic Kingdom, go to the Contemporary. The Magic Kingdom is the last stop before the monorail gets back to the Contemporary. Or as other posters have said, take a bus to an intermediate resort, then bus to Epcot and take the monorail from there to the TTC, and then the other monorail from the TTC to the MK.

Well then, I guess that plan is out - my swimming isn't so good :ROFLOL:

Thanks to everyone for the suggestions - I'm going to have to pull out my maps and ponder them all to pick the one we'll go with. You guys are definitely more creative than I am!

Oh - and while I don't think my daugher will "appreciate" all the planning, I'm sure she'll enjoy the results, especially since we'll be doing this on day 7 of our trip. I'm sure she'll think the monorail is another fun ride! :)

You could always take the boat from Boardwalk or Y&BC to EPCOT then walk through EPCOT to the monorail.

I know that in September of 2005, the boat from DTD to POR and POFQ started at 11:10 am, running every 30 minutes. At 4:00 it started running every 15. (I just looked at a picture I took of the sign - I'm not reciting this from memory :) )
