Love Summer Magic! Ugly bug ball was one of my favoriates as a kid.

And as long as we are on the subject of good, but under rated... In search of the Castaways anyone? How about the Gnombe Mobile? ... That song can get stuck in your head for days!

Singing: Why Cry about bad weather. Enjoy it! Each moment is a treasure....

Dang now I have that song stuck in my head! (at least i have it on itunes)

I like the music from The Black Hole, I watched it toady.

Babes in Toyland is allot of fun despite the fact that the special effects are uneven and Tommy Sands is lame. As for it being in widescreen, most Disney films of the 60's were shot in the academy ratio of 1.37:1 then matted for widescreen. I think Babes in Toyland is, but these screencaps make me feel uncertian.

Pete's Dragon. This is a near perfect musical score, everything you could ever want from a Disney musical, but unfortunately all you'll ever hear today if you're lucky is Candle on the Water. This is a shame because the entire soundtrack is consistently good. Happiest Home in these Hills, I Saw a Dragon, I Love You Too, Every Little Piece, Brazzle Dazzle Day, It's Not Easy... all irresistable, catchy songs.

A few years ago they finally released a soundtrack CD, but the transfer job was horrendous and they even cut a lot of stuff out. And now that Elliott and the original Main Street Electrical Parade are no more, there's not a trace of anything Pete's Dragon in all of WDW (correct me if I am wrong).

"We got a Bill Of Sale right here!"

"With dear little Petie's name!"

to answer your question iheartdisney91, there is no Elliot float in Spectromagic.

Also retroeric I have that same CD and I don't find anything wrong with it, and its just a CD version of the original record (like the CDs for Bedknobs and Broomsticks and The Happiest Millionaire) which is why it is "missing stuff". But you are right about no Pete's Dragon stuff at Disney World like there should be.

Pretty much any time the movie is brought up, or the Sherman Brothers are interviewed about Walt it's mentioned that it was probably his favorite song by them.

Haha, you see... and here i was thinking that i was cool knowing some secret tidbit that nobody else heard. *sigh*

Main St. USA music

Hey,

Some of the films you have mentioned, like Summer Magic, Happiest Millionaire etc... have some of their songs scored as ragtime versions and play as part of the loop BGM down Main St USA.

Ones immediately to mind are, Fortuosity (The Happiest Millionaire), Summer Magic (Theme of Summer Magic), but there are more. Perhaps more from the magnificent Sherman Bros. library of masterpiece works!

You learn so much from watching the extra features on the DVDs and reading some of the books. Such as, some of the songs in Bedknobs and Broomsticks were originally done for Mary Poppins (like Briney Sea) and one song from Peter Pan (Second Star to the right) had a differenent tune originally. That tune is now heard in Alice (In a World of my Own) but with different lyric obviously.

That's right, Fortuosity, Summer Magic, Let's have a Drink on it, Flitterin' and Beautiful Behula are all in the Main Street Music loop. But no Disney World area music loop has songs from Pete's Dragon. (except WDW today)

Melody Time, my favorite of the 40's compilation films, has 2 ignored songs, "Pecos Bill" and "The Lord Is Good To Me." I have a recording of the former sung by the original Golden Horseshoe Revue cast including Wally Boag that's always fun to hear. The latter song is from the Johnny Appleseed segment, and I figure it doesn't get much attention because of the religious theme, but I always thought it was pretty hummable.

Dont know if I would call it ignored but the score to The Rocketeer is one of my favorite pieces of music. The score is hard to find. I do know one song from the score is still played in Epcot. I wish they would re release that cd to purchase.

I watched Pete's Dragon for the first time since I was real young last night. I just re-confirmed that it is, still, my favorite Disney movie of all time. Partly because it takes place in my home state of Maine. "Candle on the Water" is so moving to me. Helen Reddy's voice seems so unique to me. Everything about the movie is awesome

Everyone thinks I'm an absolute nutter because my all-time favorite movie is The Happiest Millionaire, closely followed by The One and Only, Genuine Original Family Band and In Search of the Castaways.

I'm a huge Sherman Brothers fan, and dearly love all of their work - especially these movies. So overlooked by people today, but they are great films.

Pete's Dragon was a favorite of mine as a child, and still is today. I have a thing for dragons (as if that wasn't obvious) so Elliot is one of my favorite characters. I still treasure the Bisque figurine I found at WDW years ago of a sitting Elliot, and my WDCC piece of the MSEP Elliot float.

Such wonderful music and movies, it's such a shame they can't be more mainstream today.

Not to off topic, but I remember reading somewhere that there has never been a full length home release for Pete's Dragon - that footage has consistantly been missing since the original, even as far as one release was missing "Candle On The Water". It's made me sort of hesitant to buy it, hoping it gets one of those flashy platinum two disk releases, but I dunno if that's ever gonna happen considering the limited push.

I grew up on a lot of the songs you're naming. When I was younger (probably by six) and we'd do our annual drive to Disney (Nj to Fl), we had these three Disney CDs, in this super box that looked like a record and had this giant book with it and my mom taped the CD so we could play them in the car. So I grew up on Fortuosity and Monkey's Uncle and all that. Amazing memories - those songs still stick with me.

The Current Pete's Dragon DVD is the uncut movie. As for Platinum Editions, they have been already reserved for 14 of the animated features, read more on this site:
