Most ignored Disney music

Pete's Dragon. This is a near perfect musical score, everything you could ever want from a Disney musical, but unfortunately all you'll ever hear today if you're lucky is Candle on the Water. This is a shame because the entire soundtrack is consistently good. Happiest Home in these Hills, I Saw a Dragon, I Love You Too, Every Little Piece, Brazzle Dazzle Day, It's Not Easy... all irresistable, catchy songs.

A few years ago they finally released a soundtrack CD, but the transfer job was horrendous and they even cut a lot of stuff out. And now that Elliott and the original Main Street Electrical Parade are no more, there's not a trace of anything Pete's Dragon in all of WDW (correct me if I am wrong).

Petes dragon is my all time favourite disney film, although no one's heard of it. I have the dvd and and the album and thats all i can find to buy. :( i was hoping there would at least be a part of the parade with elliot on :D

And 'i saw a dragon' and 'there's room for everyone' and 'brazzle dazzle day' are my top 3 disney songs!!

I too enjoy this movie..Sadly tho if they would have put The Electrical Parade in Disney-MGM it would have been the only other place to see Pete & Elliott. Other than that the only song that's played from the movie is an instrumental version of Brazzle Dazzle Day on the Resorts TV 24 hr channel.

I always find it intresting that Disney can't make up it's mind about Pete's Dragon. Sometimes they consider it a classic (like having a float in the MSEP, music in the WDW Today loop a decent DVD and CD release), but other times they act like it doesn't exist by not pushing more merchandise and advertising for it (same for Bedknobs and Broomsticks). Hopefully when Disney is done with there Pixar fad, they can focus on their lesser known films (like they did with The Three Caballeros) as this film truly deserves it.

I seriously thing that the most ignored Disney soundtrack is the one for Wishes. People are like "ooohhh..ahhh fireworks!" and they clap during the best parts of the music. I absolutely love that soundtrack!

When I taught kids in the extended day program ( a after school job), we would always end the day with a movie...I showed them Pete's Dragon one day and the kids went crazy over it, I am pretty sure that we watched it two more times afterwards in a one month span. I think with a little promotional aid, Pete's Dragon could yield some more successful numbers.

Bedknobs and Broomsticks, one of my all time favorite movies Disney or Non. But yeah its interesting how they treat some movies differently.

I always loved Pete's Dragon and Bedknobs and Broomsticks. It's a shame how ignored they are. I'm glad at least Mary Poppins isn't ignored.

Except Chity Chity Bang Bang isn't a Disney movie. Other underated Disney soundtarcks I think are The Happiest Millionaire and Summer Magic.

Although, "The Adventures of Ichabod and Mr. Toad" wasn't necissarily packed to the brim with song after song after song... the ones it did have I thought were amazing and sadly forgotten.

specifically "Ichabod" and, my most favourite "Merrilly on our Way to Nowhere in Particular." You can barely even find any of these songs anymore anywhere! And they were, to me, maaaad underrated.

I agree with Pete's Dragon also. "It's not Easy" was a great song!

Oh, and although Marry Poppins is in no way ignored, haha, sometimes i think all of their big BIG hits with songs kind of make people forget other good songs from the movie. Specifically, "Let's Go Fly a Kite.

Edit: Oh, oh, one more! I forgot completely about the Three Caballeros Soundtrack! I mean, specifically all of the songs that weren't "The Three Caballeros." The problem with this though...is that most of the songs from that movie weren't actual Disney Originals... they were classic Brazilian and Mexican "paisan" melodies that many people would know with or without that movie. But still... Disney did great renditions of these songs, 'specially the Sambas!

I absolutely love Pete's Dragon, it is one of my alltime favorite films.
When I was younger I wrote a letter to Helen Reddy telling her how much I loved her in that movie, and I actually received a letter back from her with a signed photograph from the film. Now I am not sure if other people actually write the letters for her, but I had written letters to alot of celebrities when I was younger and never received a letter back. So I found it to be really special.
I agree that the soundtrack is ignored, and I find it to be an exceptional movie with awesome songs.

I enjoyed the soundtrack to "The Black Hole". I also thought the movie was good. The difference is that you can get both the DVD and soundtrack pretty easy. I agree with the statement made that Disney can't decide about Pete's Dragon. It is a great movie. Show it some love Disney!

Love Summer Magic! Ugly bug ball was one of my favoriates as a kid.

And as long as we are on the subject of good, but under rated... In search of the Castaways anyone? How about the Gnombe Mobile? ... That song can get stuck in your head for days!

Agreed. My personal favourite songs from Mary Poppins are ones that are always ignored, especially "Feed the Birds" which is my favourite Disney song period.

Haha, i remember either reading in a book or hearing through a documentary that Walt himself was actually very very fond of the "Feed the Birds" song... if i only remembered from where though... *sigh*

Pretty much any time the movie is brought up, or the Sherman Brothers are interviewed about Walt it's mentioned that it was probably his favorite song by them. Often he would say to them when they were in his office trying out new songs, "Play it" and they knew exactly what song he meant. It was also pointed out all the time at the Great Moments with Mr. Lincoln attraction at Disneyland since they had a recreation of Walt's office on display there, and included in that recreation was the actual piano. I can't recall if it's currently part of the One Man's Dream displays at Disney-MGM now, though.
Another rarely mentioned movie with great songs was "Babes in Toyland." Through the years this movie has gotten even worse treatment than "Pete's Dragon." They've never even released it on DVD in widescreen (though it's possible it wasn't filmed that way).

I actually just received the Summer Magic dvd from Amazon yesterday! I can't wait to watch it again - definitely my favorite non-animated movie when I was growing up.
