looking for suggestions for adult birthday dinner. So many restaurants serving great food, but they don't always have beautiful settings..... looking for something that does both. (Not V and A,'s on this occasion..)

Could you be more specific in your definition of "beautiful setting"?

Personally we have had great meals and a great view at the California Grill

Sure, somewhere where it's not just casual style table or benches, not crammed next to other diners etc

I also suggest Yachtsman. Went their for DH bday almost 2 yrs ago. Fantastic dinner, beautiful nautical decor. We were not sitting on top of anyone else and hubby got a free dessert because he had on his bday pin! Plus, you get to stroll the boardwalk afterwards and enjoy the evening activities and walk off the calories!

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder so what one may think is a beautiful setting others wont. We enjoy the theming of BOG West Wing, and we have always had a great dinner experience there. Sanaa & Jiko are wonderfully themed and have different flavored cuisine than what youd find at other Disney places, which might be fun for a b-day celebration.

I really liked Yak & Yeti at Animal Kingdom. Great food and the restaurant is just amazing. So much story packed into every square inch of the building. That and their chicken and waffles are to die for.....and the fried green beans /sweet chili sauce.

Flying fish looks very nice. We've tried Cali grill a few times and last time had long waits so thinking flying fish , narcoosees, or paddlefish. We are planning on Sanaa, b.o.g and trattoria for other meals. Thanks for ideas

Il Mulino is fantastic. :) Narcoossee's is a must-do every trip.

Taking into account both food and atmosphere, my suggestions (in no particular order) would be Jiko, Flying Fish, Bluezoo and California Grill. I would even prefer these over signature restaurants in the parks just because in-park dining tends to be louder and more cramped for space.

Citricos, Sanaa and Artist Point get honorable mentions :)

I'm gonna go all blasphemous on you guys, but I have 3 non-Disney suggestions that are all down in the attractions area.

Norman's at The Ritz-Carlton, Grande Lakes Resort.

Outside of V&A, the most beautiful dining room for me is BOG. And the food at dinner is heads above what is served at lunch. Citrico's is nice too, especially if you can get a table by a window facing the marina.
