They probably didn't cut anything back, but there might not be anything more they can do without being damaging. The mosquito season this year in Florida is expected to be a lot worse that typical.

"In Florida, mosquito season is a yearly occurrence ranging from about Memorial Day to Labor Day, but thanks to the harsh el Niño weather, mosquitos did not go inactive this year and instead reproduced right through the winter season." [Link]

There has been a lot more mosquito activity in many places earlier in the year. It's been a major damper on trying to plan outside events already this year.
I was expecting perfection....them Disney peeps won't quit

We visit 2-3 times a year and nearly always stay in the campground. I have never even seen a mosquito. Spiders and snakes, wild turkey, raccoons and deer, yes. And even a crocodile in the Magic Kingdom. But no mosquitos. Given the current situation with the Zika virus, this could be detrimental to attendance. With the cutbacks and price increases, this is one more nail in the coffin. On the other hand, mosquitos carrying Zika are moving north and by next year may be all over the U.S.
I actually took a picture of a snake on the sidewalk at BLT the other day.

Yep, it's funny, we almost always go to WDW in the summer and I don't ever remember gettin' bit by a mosquito there, even once. Here, in Texas, I'm my family's canary in a coal mine...once I start gettin' bit everyone heads indoors...!

Yeah, mosquitoes will put Disney out of business for good. They are already on incredibly shaky ground as evidenced by their results.

I just got back yesterday and I have bites all over my legs. I'm itching like crazy. I'll tell you one worse though. We have to pay $1,200 a year in dues at Bay Lake and our studio had ANTS crawling through the sliding glass door and biting my wife on the balcony. So then I look in the bed and there goes an ant. So my wife calls the front desk and tells them about it and they say they will send someone up to spray them. I go to the front desk and demand the manager and tell him we have a huge problem and in about 20 minutes we were moved to a 1br. Any other BLT members here that have noticed this problem?

Just got back from Bay Lake to and got bite more than usual but seriously, you people can't expect Disney to be 100% bug free.

I was there the last week in April & both my sister and I got bit 3-4x by Mosquitos waiting in line to get into mansion. I have never been bit before at WDW, this is the first time I can remember and I go often.
We were there for the last After Hours Party (btw, it was worth the 1/2 price $75) and got ate up in Liberty Square. We go all the time as well; I guess we'll carry bug spray, just to be safe......

There are also mosquito jackets you can find at many Florida stores, which do a great job at keeping the pests at bay. You can find some pretty basic ones for around $15 to $20. Many brands will cover you from head to fingertip, and though they can magnify the heat / humidity when being worn, they are very lightweight and comfortable to wear. If you tuck them into your pants (emphasis on wearing pants, not shorts) then the critters won't be able to munch on you while you enjoy the parks. Maybe these could eventually be sold at some of the on-site gift shops someday?
