Screamscape is one of the most unorganized websites in terms of layout. Why are the updates in the list on the main page linked? When clicking on a update topic for a park why doesn't it jump to that topic? Instead you have scroll through the entire park history just to find the topic. On the same note, why can't it be chronological or broken down further on the park pages?

I am a web designer myself and I know the answer. Laziness. It is not hard at all to do the things above.

But I would like to also say that I visit the site frequently.

As another web developer, I concur! The site is horribly put together. That's why I don't even bother reading it.

I'm just a bit perturbed by people bashing the information on the site and the creator. As for the layout of the site: You think that he might have a REAL job in addition to managing the site? It's free to access, the site is supported by ads and out of Lance's pocket, so he can do with it as he likes. If you don't like it, then don't read it (like wannab@dis).

It IS broken down into parts. EG: The Disney World page is broken down into MK, EPCOT, MGM, AK, and the rest of the Resort. It's then further broken down into park news, Ride rehabs and other projects. Each entry below that is in order chronologically. The newest info is flagged with a stop sign. Is it the best? Probably not, but it makes sense to me.

I do have a real job and I also create websites on the side. Unlike Screamscape I do not make any money off my sites. There are no ads and yes I pay for every penny of the sites out of my own pocket. So to go back to my original statement, the organization is due to laziness.

No the pages are not broken down. Sure there are individual sections in a mile long line of text devoted to each park, but that does not mean it is broken down. There should be links for each area somewhere at the top. And each park should have its own page. You can't possibly say that you enjoy having to scroll through a huge column of text just to read an update that is at the bottom.

I will also restate that I do read the site, daily in fact. I just wish it was better organized

They put it out there for the public, then they should be ready for public to be critical. Whether they make money or not doesn't negate the fact that the site is a mess to navigate.

Back on topic...sort of...I don't think a single track would be too terrible...but I do understand cars would have to be longer to keep the same flow of people.

I'd really hate to see that happen.

I personally like the single file, 6 person trains as well. It gives a really good feeling of shooting through space, and you feel like you're almost alone. That would change if it were your standard size train...

But having said that... IF... And I do mean IF... The track and train were done right it might not be that bad. Change for the sake of change isn't good... But change for the sake of big improvements on original ideas can be. Not to say that MK's mountain should change into Paris's version at ALL, but that's a great example of an improvement on an original idea. That kind of change I would be more open to. (AGAIN... Not that EXACT ride necessarily... Just an improvement in that type of manner.)

I know there are TONS of people here that don't agree with that... And I respect that opinion, too. In fact in many cases, I share it. I don't want COP messed with, for example. But in some situations... To me it just makes more sense.

Gut the building and put a new experience that is completely different then the current ride and the other SM attractions. WDW SM has the largest show building of all SM.

I think given the popularity of the redone SM in DL, it is inevitable that WDW's will follow suit. And I wouldn't be surprised if it gets refurbed with its current track layout, as this saves them tons of money on R&D.

However, I don't think WDW's SM would take nearly as long to replace as it did here at DL (2+/- years). Given the size of the DL version and it's orientation to the park and nearby freeways, it had to be rebuilt like a ship in a bottle, so to speak. They had to do all of the demolishing and rebuilding using just the small access doors out of sight from park guests.

SM at WDW is a completely different story. It's located outside the berm and has plenty of access from the rear (as far as I know) so the surgery to it could be much more significant, and done at a much quicker rate.

DL's new version of SM has also increased it's hourly rider capacity because it has made the load/unload process much faster. It also has a separate area for handicapped riders to board - the cars can get pulled horizontally off the main track to load these parties while the other cars can whiz by without delay. When the party has boarded the car, it is replaced on the main track and sent on its way. It's VERY cool. It's too bad all rides don't have this feature.

So, I wouldn't be surprised if WDW adds this aspect when they replace the ride system. And for increasing rider capacity even further, I'd rather them keep 2 separate tracks running smaller cars, but maybe doing a DL-style double wide car instead of the single-file WDW style. This would be better than doing one track with a 24-passenger train.

We just got back from our first Dl trip. and Sm is way cooler there. and I agree the addition of side by side seats and the Handicap boarding is very COOL. I would love to see it updated at WDW since thats where we go each yea

Rumor? Yep.
Bit of truth. Yep.

Been talked about for a long time. Probably closer to happening now than ever.

It would be the greatest thing to hit the Magic Kingdom since Splash Mountain. Compared to it's sisters, WDW's SM is a relic that needs a complete overhaul.

I noticed last week that even the building is looking horrible. From the TTA you can clearly see the stains and other external blemishes rather up-close. The whole place inside and out is taking on an air of neglect, and I sincerely hope it's because something is planned to be done about it in the near future.
