Well, Don Knotts is the guy from the Andy Griffith Show, right? Maybe im wrong, but if im right, he seems like he'd be perfect for the obvious part, the groundskeeper.

Ya see thats the stereotyping he has had to overcome in his careere.. All you can think of when you hear the name Don Knotts is Barney Fife, c'mon how short sighted are you people.

When Knotts left the Griffith show he left after signing a multi picture deal with universal to star in The Ghost and Mr Chicken (1966), where he played Luther Heggs a jerky, quirky typesetter for the town paper who aspires to move up from his basement office to be a full-fledged reporter. Luther is assigned to spend the night in a house on the night of the 20th anniversary of the murders of the houses previous owners which has been abandoned since, and rumored to be haunted by the spirits.

Knots' style which was honed on the Steve Allenn show in the fiftys of the bumbling- scared at his own shadow charaterazation would be perfect as this rummored charater for the haunted mansion movie .

here are some links for the film

of course...make a hit with one character you're branded with it...Michael J Fox-Marty McFly...Bill Murray-Peter Venkman. Mike Myers-Wayne or Powers. it's enevitable.

Even though I am not a Michael Meyers fan,I have to say I don`t think he has been stereotyped at all, infact he is going to be in a new movie that is totally differant then anything he has done so far! He is playing the cat from the cat in the hat,I think it`s coming out this spring or summer.

I've heard more news about it. It will star Eddie Murphey who plays a flourist who drags his family up to the Gracey Mansion. He plans to turn it into a big condo. The 999 ghosts have some tricks up their sleeve.

I still think it could be quite good, I thought Comedy was the correct approach to this type of movie, and I think Murphy will just be a circumstancial character who stumbles into the Mansion by some means. I don't think the integrity of the Ride elements will be destroyed that badly... at least I hope not. I did find the Country Bears to be better (but still a bad movie) than I thought it would be. If they had left the whole adoption thing out completely it still would have worked, propably better. Still, I think Haunted Mansion will be alright, it's still a bit early to tell though.

I like Eddie Murphy, and Don Knotts is probably a good addition. All I want from this movie is the 999 ghosts. What I've hard from it is that Eddie takes his family to their new house and they run into a ghost. If there's only ONE ghost, it's not the Haunted Mansion. Therefore, bad. :D

Nope, this is probably the first bit of news I ever heard when the movie was announced. It might even be at the plot description in IMDB.
