Yes it is confirmed Figment will be added to the new Imagination ride which acording to WDW Intranet is to be titled Journey into Your Imagination with Figment. Unfortunately like everything else at WDW now a days this coems to us at a cost I talked to a friend of mine's father who is an imagineer and he said the ride will stay the same except for the train scene and the color of sound. The basic story as it goes right now is that Figment is caged up and is released by the spirit of imagination and all these bizzar things start happening to the equipment at the institute hence forth the upside down room, disapearing butterfly, and the amazing connect the dot scene WOW THE THRILLS!!!

to be quite honest, I don't think people were seeking a complete change. They just wanted their beloved Figment (and I'd take DreamFinder over that obnoxious Nigel Channing). I like some of the effects in Journey into Your Imagination...seems like the two they are taking out are the dumbest ones (although the connect the dot room comes in a close third and they should consider removing it too). I like the butterfly and the upside down room though...kewl effects. At least with the added story line, the ride would actually have..well...a story! One thing though...I hope the name that website provided is only a project name...it's a dumb name...keep the name how it is and put Figment on the sign and project his head on the side of the building at night...and put his footprints all throughout the area in front of the pavillion..."Journey into Your Imagination with Figment" is lame...and too long. I'd prefer either the traditional Journey Into Imagination, personally...perhaps "The Imagination Institute Presents: Journey Into Imagination, Starring Figment" would work...regardless, I think if they make the RIGHT changes, this can be good. Also, the first time I rode it, I thought it was very kewl how in the last room you are in a starfield and then it lights up and there's a door! I like the effect...seemed Imagineered to me!:king:

Thank God Figment will be back -- even if the ride won't be totally changed, it will be nice to have the best character ever back in the attraction! :)

As far as a name, I agree that it sounds a little weird as mentioned above. How about just "Figment's Journey into Imagintion" -- that title was thrown around before, I beleive I saw it on one of these threads...

More Info on Figment

The queue will now include some pre-show rooms to introduce you to the story that will take place. They tell you that Figment has somehow been let loose inside the Imagination Institute and you are on a search mission to find and re-capture him.
Monsters Inc. concept has been scrapped. Figment will reopened into Summer of 2002.

the story sounds fine to me...kinda like Dinosaur only it's about a purple dragon and not violent...so maybe it's not like dinosaur! But, I still like the idea...

9 mos. is about as fast as disney does ANYTHING...betcha betcha it'll remain dormant for a few months as disney is always slow to START projects...DinoRama just SAT THERE for like 6 mos. with nothing going on...they decide what they want and then Eisner twiddles his thumbs for a few months and tells them how much he's willing to pay for...and then there are so many hours in the day and the builders need potty breaks, lunch breaks, coffee breaks, and...well...they can only work at night so as to not impede guests' views (even though the ride is inside--so it's more like they want time and a half for working at night)....the whole process is QUITE time consuming, but once they actually start working in say...March...it'll progress quickly.

Actually, that's not true. I've seen them working on both Mission Space and the Dinorama area during the day. In fact, I think I posted pictures on here that show them welding the frame for one of the dinos during the day :)

I've was sort of wondering why it was going to take so long, too. If they are only changing two of the rooms and the queue area, it shouldn't take them nearly a year. It took them a year last time and they dumped half the track, gutted the entire first floor of the building and added walls.

hmmm...now that I think of it, you're right. Don't they try to do stuff at night, though? It seemed like most of the Sorcerer Mickey construction was at night...perhaps because construction walls couldn't hide it completely?

Well, in the beginning it was only at night and in the early mornings (if you went in for early entry you would see guys up doing stuff on the ring and perhaps a cherry-picker in the air somewhere). As it got closer to crunch time, they could also be seen in the middle of the day.

I thought the go ahead had been given for quite a substantial budget to improve JIYI? Surely they can do better than just improve a few rooms and the wait area.

Figment

I remember riding this in 1993. I can not recall the Professor like character's name yet I was very impressed. The ride was showing it's age. I was very impressed with the bicycle appearing to fly as he sang "imagination". I did not realize it at the time that this was to be my favorite ride. It calls upon you to imagine. This was prior to the, I believe John Cleese, narrated the ride. I would appreciate anyone to refresh memory.

Do you mean Dreamfinder? Check the Guess Who? post in chit chat and see if that's him.

Isn't the $5million figure a bit high considering they're only going to 'touch up' certain things here and there? If Figment is 'lost', and the mission is to find him, then doesn't that mean that we won't see much of Figment in the ride (since he's lost?)

I hope, at the very least, that the improved version of JIYI includes the "One Small Spark" theme...

$5 million actually isn't all that much when it comes to attraction rehabs. It could be a very good amount for the work that is mentioned in this thread. And of course, we don't know the budget for a fact... but of course it is possible that more might take place than just minor changes....

Pictures of Figment plastered around the ride? Please tell me you are just kidding; it would be nice if there was some form of Animatronic action in the revamped "Journey".

they must still have the old Figment animatronics somewhere...if they wanna be "cheap"...one animatronic can cost like $1,000,000...

JIYI nees more than a rehab, it needs a total rethink, redesign, reinstall, etc, etc.

They replaced a classic with a clunker, time to pony up and spend what it takes to get it back to the previous standard.

The west side of Future World needs an E-ticket quality attraction. Using Figment for a quick fix rehab of the existing JIYI just won't cut it. Start over and do it right.

The unfortunate thing about the money is that something else will have to wait while JIYI is fixed.
