More diversity at character meals needed

On our trip (just got back), we did several character meals: CRT (B), Ohana (B), Garden Grille (D), Liberty Tree Tavern (D), Donald's Restaurantosarus (B) and Crystal Palace (D). By the end of the trip, I certainly would have loved to see someone besides Mickey, Chip and Dale, Pluto and Goofy at the character meals. When we got back, I reviewed my Passporter to see if the characters varied at the other restaurants. There was little diversity.

Any reason why we do not see others? Obviously, certain costumes are not going to be good in a restaurant (e.g., I suspect Aladdin's Gennie and Monsters Inc.'s Sully would be too big). But why not some of Snow White's dwarves, Daisy Duck, the Country Bears, Peter Pan and Hook, or Lilo & Stitch. Also, I wish they would bring back the villians at 1900 Park Fare.

I agree, more diversity is needed. We're going to be doing our first character dining this time (we never did it on all our childhood trips, but now that we're grown up, we are! Go figure, lol) at 1900 Park Fare. It's billed as "Cinderella and Friends" so I'm hoping we get a little diversity, and hopefully that will include Mary Poppins and at least one villain! (Ya know, I've never seen Lady Tremaine at WDW!)

I agree they could use a bit more variety. You did see the princess at breakfest at CTR and pooh and friends at CP and Donald, in fact you hit many CM and got about as big of variety as they have.

When you go to 1900 Park Fare it will be Cinderella, the Prince, and 2 of the mice. Fairy Godmother will be in the lobby, but will not be walking around. The food is great for dinner. Try the stawberry soup! It is yummy. No more viallans at CM, and since I have a 3 year old, I am happy about that. Those character's can be intimindating enough without being scary.

I would supspect that they don't want to have any that won't bring in a big enough crowd.

I think Mary Poppins is only at breakfast at 1900 Park Fare. We've also seen Pooh, Tigger, Eyeore, Pinocchio, Geppedio (sorry for the spelling), the Mad Hatter, Alice in Wonderland, etc at that same breakfast. (I think we've seen other characters there, too, but can't remember right now) There were plenty of characters at that breakfast to keep all the kids entertained... too bad we were taking so many pictures and getting so many autographs that breakfast was a bit hurried! Oh well!!!

Definitly more diversity needed! We are going in August and I asked my nephew which charachter he wanted to eat breakfast with. His first choice was Captain Hook, his second choice was Pumba. So i told him i would look into it. Sadly, i had to tell him that these characters "Arent awake in time for breakfast" Seems that the only ones that eat breakfast are the Fab 5 and Pooh and friends.

I had character breakfasts with aladdin, genie, quasimodo, esmeralda, meeko and others the last time i was there in 1997 at MGM studios. I have also had Pinocchio and others at breakfasts in the 80's. Dont know why they wont throw in some odd charachters for breakfast just to add variety.

I loved the Aladdin breakfast they had at MGM when the movie was new! We did it in 94. Genie was a riot, flirting with all the ladies. He came to our table and offered me his hand during A Whole New World. That was cool, dancing with Genie... how romantic  Then he left me for some hussy at a table across the way

Good Point JOHNVREE!!

Seems they could have meals by "CAST" and do pretty well.

Add a "Robin Hood Lunch" and a "Pocahontas Campfire Snack".

Maybe a "Mary Poppins Brunch" and a "Lion King Dinner Feast".

How about a "Jungle Book" Adventure dinner or even a "Snow White" Cocktail hour! (Well OK...not that last one!)

Lots more opportuinities here!!! By holding each once a day they would certainly be able to fill them all and people would go to more than they had planned to see the others!

BRAVO for the suggestion!

:sohappy: :sohappy: :sohappy: :sohappy:

When we did Breakfast with the Princesses in Norway, we saw Mary Poppins, Mulan, Snow White, and one other (don't remember who). Also, at Crystal Palace, we saw the whole Pooh gang. So there does seem to be diversity, you just have to look for it.

Not very diverse when you think about the number of characters that Disney actually has and could use.

You get tons of Pooh meet and greets. You get tons of Fab 5 (most restaurants) and then you get the Princesses.

You don't get other characters from other movies/shows.

At the 1900 Park Fare, Mary Poppins greets you at the door to the dining room and pooh, tigger, eeyore, alice and mad hatter are the characters that come to the tables. I know that tigger and eeyore alternate days. I've done the character breakfast there 3 times already.

I always thought when they got rid of the Soundstage Restaurant at MGM it was a mistake. No disrespect to Bear in the Big Blue House, but that was a cool place to eat. I think it shoud come back as The House of Mouse like on TV, and at Halloween it could be the House of Villians. An idea I sent to WDW, but was told they do not solicit ideas and if they used it I could not sue. But if they do use I will sooooooo sue:D

Unfortunately, we're doing the dinner, not the breakfast. :( Mary has successfully avoided me for nearly 20 years, but this time, I will HUNT HER DOWN .

I think having a House of Mouse would be awesome, it should look just like the one in the cartoon. Inside, it could be a character meal restaurant, with Mickey shorts or House of Mouse episodes playing on the big screen. There should be a rotating variety of characters- any and all are fair game (just like the show). And yes, at Halloween, or perhaps even starting at like 8:00 each night, the villains could take it over! Great idea!
