Ituri forest is going to be used extensively.
Really?

I just didn't think that area was that big. I guess the only place where it didn't obviously butt up to something else would be just past the black rhinos where it transisitions to Safi River. That area seems to extend back a little ways.

It makes sense. It has access to Safi as well.

I'll definitely take another look at that area in October.

Where would the zip line be I wonder? Over the nile crocodiles would be awesome...:lookaroun

It WOULD !!

I'm sure they'll trek the part of the forest with the bongos, okapi, and such and i guess the rhino would be viewed on the hill that you pass as you leave the forest.

Can you please post a picture of the track layout of the safaris? My eyesight is bad, i can't pinpoint it exactly.

I want the full experience.:lookaroun:p

And I bet this "experience" will be upwards of $300-ish. Any other guesses?

Ok.....:lookaroun:lookaroun....:ROFLOL::ROFLOL:. lol

But the theme is conservation and protecting animals. That would go against, what 1 billion dollars, that was to put to oppose such things.

I'm guessing around that also. I wish it would be in the mid 100's more reasonable. Even the low 200's, but 300's geez.

A good chunk of it is covered in trees. I'm only going off what I know from my 3 summers of driving the trucks plus the satellite pictures.

I did find this colored pencil drawing and it seems pretty accurate:

Edit: Well that didn't work. Here is the link while I look for something else.

Edit again: I can't find what I'm looking for. Funny thing, they used to sell merchandise with a "map" of the Harambe Wildlife Reserve on it that was basically a map of the ride path.

Edit #3:: Apparenly if I searched for a map of Harambe Wildlife Reserve I would of had better results. Lets try this one:

Edit #4: Woot! I don't know how to scale that is with the actual attraction, but Ituri, at least the parts accessible by KSR isn't that big.

THANKS SO MUCH!

I I'm guessing they'll also use the distant savannah also.

Question: Where are the mandrills? I haven't seem since like 2006.
I don't have any contact any more within KSR so there is a possiblity that they have been removed.

However, in my experience they also just like to hang out behind the rock out of view. Sometimes we would go days without seeing them.

I also heard that sometimes they are removed because of inappropriate activity in view of the guest. I only heard that from other drivers, coordinators, and managers, never from Animal Care themselves, so take that with a grain of salt.

Oh, thanks.

They were so cool and their exhibit was so unique and cool.

Inappropriate activity? Doesn't Disney encourage natural behavior from the animals? lol surely they had to consider they would do these things in front of guest.

They do, believe me. From the making to the birthing, if at all possible it happens on the savannah. One of my favorite safaris was watching a wildebeast being born.

In the case of the mandril, they were sometimes in the single rider line if you catch my drift. :lookaroun

That crosses the line a little...

Woah ok then :lookaroun:lookaroun.
That is crossing the line. That's a waaaaaay over the line. But I guess that's life in the wild.

Really they do the births right on the savannah? I thought they would be in the barns. But that would be one of my favorites also. My favorite was when the male and female lion were both up and actually interacting. That was also the one where a white rhino charged at our vehicle. Yea that was an adventurous safari.

I gotta say, this is sounding really cool. Since it appears they're adding in infrastructure such as rope bridges and possibly zip-lines, is it possible that they've expaned the forest and other areas a bit? Not a whole lot, just a few more shrubs and trees to give a better sense of scale and build a more extensive path area.

Also, I would have no problem seeing these groups while on the ride itself. Its no different than seeing the Behind the Seeds tour on Living with the Land. In fact, as others have said, worked into the background of the attraction properly, they can enhance the overall story and emersiveness of the Safari.

Yeah they could be called special research groups, exploring the savannahs. Or just regular tourist also in Africa. Reserves in Africa have people walking along with trucks driving through.

In some cases they do.

Rhinos don't because they are very protective for example.

For others certain precautions are taken. For example, the zebra were removed while the wildebeast was expecting. Zebra like to trample babies as they make too much noise and attract predator.

I see, interesting. Do you know how many Zebras are out there, because I also don't see them as much. I see them more at the lodge.
