More CP questions...

I know I am not going down to Disney for the partying or wild times with other college kids, but its bound to happen when you put college-aged cast members in close living quarters....

Do cast members tend to party a lot while doing the CP?

I know PI is closed, any other "hot spots" for nightlife? I heard Atlantic Dance was pretty popular...

A lot of CPs do party, but there is still a sizable portion that don't (or only occasionally).

During my program, a "party" bus would come on Thursday, and take CPs to a club called Roxy. It's not Disney-based, so you have to pay your way.

If you want to take a car or ride with others, there's even more options. Downtown Orlando has a lot of clubs, mostly typical nightlife, such as Antigua, Dragon Room, Tabu, Club Firestone, etc.

Inquirery lol

I come from a pretty big drinking school in Wisconsin and it just's so happens that I am underage. I'm definately not going down to Orlando this fall for the wrong reasons. I am looking to learn more about myself, hopefully meet some cool people and work at the happiests place on earth.

With all that said, I do like to have a beer here and there, whats the apartment scene like? These clubs you talk about...21+?

I live in a pretty boring place back home, so I am used to making my own fun, so i shouldn't have a problem with that right?

Thanks

Kevin

Just a question about some of the benefits college program participants receive. I know they get free admission into the four parks as well as discounts at select merchandise and dining locations. Does anyone know if there is a discount for any of the golf courses? If so, I will definitely need to bring my golf clubs with me if I get accepted to the program.

The Cast Discount book that I have is a bit old (june08-dec08) but the discount sounds like the same from when I was on the program Fall 07. Here's what it says about Golf: "Cast Members with a current WDW Cast Member ID will recieve 10% off Titlest and Cobra Golf Equipment. Items include golf bags, putters, wedges, fairway woods, and drivers. Cast Members recieve 10% discount on golf shoes. This offer only valid at the WDW Pro Shops. Not applicable with any other merchandise discount. Cast Members may bring up to 3 additional Guests and recieve their Cast Member rate of $45.00 before 1pm and $30.00 after 1pm. Cast Members must stay with their Guests on the golf course." It then tells you how to make the tee times.

I don't know when you are planning on going down but around the end of October the Children's Miracle Network golf tournament is at Shades of Green. My Dad volunteered for it and was talking to the CMs working it and they worked in other areas but were transfered over for the week. I know that CMs get in free or very discounted tickets for the week.

how would i know if the school did? who would be the best person to ask?

You should check with your advisor and someone at Career services at your school. If your school is having a live presentation I would go to that and talk to other students about getting credit. If not you'll have to figure it out for yourself like I did.

My school only offered internship credit but I didn't have enough hours for it so I set up two independent studies to get credits. Basically I printed out the sylibi for the classes and approached the head of the departments the classes were in and said that I was going to Disney and I'd like to get credits.

Another way to get credit is to look into taking online classes through your school or a school that you can transfer classes in from.

Roles...

I'm applying for the attractions, costuming, quick-service food - kitchen only and maybe housekeeping. Does anyone here have experience in these roles? If so...could you tell me all about your experience and any other stuff I should know about that role? Thanks so much!!!

If im reading this wrong, im sorry, but what I gather from your information is that your underage, and you are asking if you would be able to get a beer to drink even though you are underage. My guess is that if you find the right apartments to party at you might, but the risk you add is getting caught. And I know that if you are underage and are drinking in the apartments your days are over, and done. And thats forever, you are put on a the do not rehire list at disney and its affiliated companies.

I live in a pretty boring place back home, so I am used to making my own fun, so i shouldn't have a problem with that right?

I dont think that anyone should find a problem with finding something to do. There is alot to see in the Orlando Area, and if you bring a car, then there are no boundaries. If you do not have a car, then there is still alot that can be done in walking distance from the apartments and from where buses take you.

As my old recruiter use to say, "I don't know if you've heard about this new law that says that if you are under 21 you aren't allowed to drink."

That doesn't mean it doesn't happen in the apartments but make sure the people who live there are cool with you drinking there. Since if you get caught drinking there they also get terminated since they were supplying.

ha Bug I love when she said that during her presentations!

Yea it was funny! Everyone would think they were learning this awesome secret. I'm going to miss her presentations. There were things that she always said and when I hosted my e-presentation the other day I was about to say them.

But really I never wanted to drink during my program because I didn't want to kicked out. It was too serious. But this time, now that I'm legal, I'm going to spend so much money!!!

Was Alana your recruiter? If so, she's awesome :)
