I am surprised that state law doesn't mandate that kids are not allowed in the hot tube. Here in NY I think its either 12 or 9 is the minimum age to be allowed in the hot tub.

Per the CDC and the Red Cross, no children under age 5 should be allowed in hot tubs, explaining that "children cannot cope physically with the heat, which may cause hyperthermia and other harmful effects." Small children have a different body temperature regulation system than adults and they will overheat much more quickly. So responsible parents should not let their small children be in the hot tubs, no matter how well-behaved they may be.
It is not so much the small children whom are the most likely to cause problems... I would like to think that any good parents would keep their young child out of a hot tub, but I could be wrong. I think that this conversation of kids was more geared toward children ages 10-16 mostly (those of a pre-teen/teenage years), but that is just how I interpreted it.

It's sounding more and more like Trader Sam's is taking over where the Wyland Art Gallery use to be

It would make more sense. It's bigger. Could a wall be knocked out so it opens onto the deck/seating area outside of captn cooks? Or does it not stretch all the way back? Sorry, I'm not too familiar with the stores layout. :/

I was 10 yrs old the first time I went to Disney World and while we stayed at Ft. Wilderness we visited the Polynesian and the Contemporary. Yah, the Contemp was cool with the monorail and such but I swore that day when I grew up I would stay at the Polynesian b/c I loved it so much. And so I have, many times And my 7 year old loves it too. I really don't think its an adult themed resort at all and would not expect any hot tub rules. But no worries, I don't like them and won't be letting my son in to ruin anyone's adult evening. Mmmm, bacteria frappe. Super romantic ;)

Lol looks like the biggest deal on this defurbishment is the entrance marquee. I guess it's like the "queues" in the parks. Definitely next gen marquee. I'm looking forward to taking a selfie with it.

And they are adding the word Disney's too just so I do not forget who owns it.
Yes they do this to show ownership but also to help the stupid people. A couple of times I have heard people go to WDW and went to Disney's Animal Kingdom and Disney's Hollywood Studios but not visit Epcot or Magic Kingdom because they did not think they were Disney parks because they didn't have the word 'Disney's' on the signage  Believe it or not this does happen.. :banghead:

I keep saying it but a resort for adults could be a cash cow. And a perfect place for a new Adv. Club/PI type entertainment complex.

I just need to take this moment to recognize the fact that I finally agree with jt on something. Trust me, this is significant in my little part of the Magic.

He is right, Disney in its infinite so called wisdom is missing one of the biggest opportunities to cash in I have seen in a while. Why they havnt done it yet is beyond me. Build an adult only resort complete with different nightclubs pool areas etc. Make it a moderate and you have yourself a hit. Maybe have themed weekends etc. Address the adult childless Disney fan demography. They are so in love with DVC? It IMO would be a huge hit ( I am not a big fan of DVC). I would go one step further, this would be a great EPCOT resort that has been discussed.

As far as the Poly is concerned as well as other resorts are concerned? I think all resorts should have an "adults only" area. They have them on the ships, it addresses a need. I have a child not to mention a grand child, I have been actively involved with children my entire adult life. I love children but when on vacation I can understand having a " no kid" zone. Its Disneyworld.....I get that, kids are everywhere. It would be just nice for Disney to have a place where adults can have a place where they can decompress from all the kiddie stuff they have to do all day.

I think taking out the stream is just another example of cutting out the small details that make it the Disney difference. Putting in a "grassy area" HA! So I guess its because of the same secret reason Tikiman has spoken about why the waterfall had to come out? They have to take out all the lush greenery in the lobby of the GCH because they have to change the sky lights to something that wont allow UV light to come thru and all the plants would die.....HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

No they want to make it pretty but sterile, with the least amount of staff for maintenance as possible. Just have some minimum wage mouse keeper to just go in and mop the floors and clean the glass....do some dusting and they are done. I will bet anybody drinks at Trader Joes that the maintenance of the new so called water features in the lobby will be contracted out to an outside vendor.....ie....cheaper. This refurb isn't to make the resort "better" its to streamline it. To make it more profitable. Nothing wrong with that but as they say.....don't p*** down my back and tell me its raining.

In Illinois, there is no minimum. In Wisconsin, it's 6. But it isn't enforced.

Not even a romantic moment, but just a special moment where you and your significant other are just enjoying the moment... If this hot tub had a view across the lagoon and it was just me and I could watch the sunset with Cinderella's Castle in the background, I would be livid if someone's undisciplined kid ruined it.

And my view of the Poly as a couples place is because it reminds me of a resort that you might see on the ocean in Hawaii that you would stay at on your honeymoon... Again, just my opinion, so feel free to have your own views about the Poly and such.
If that's what you're looking for on your honeymoon, go to the REAL Polynesia!

Yes, that's been the biggest pile of BS I've read in a really long time. What a joke!

Plenty of room at DTD by Cirque to build such a resort (if it were a hotel tower) and it would be the perfect thing to feed the shops, restaurants and bars.

Where at the Polynesian are you getting a room for $300 dollars a night? That's what the going rate was 12 years when I did my first family vacation there. I've stayed at the Polynesian several times since and even with some of the deals that were offered, 300 bucks is a thing of the past.

I have been looking for hotels in August, $300 seems to be the going rate for the Poly for that month.

They are taking the stream out too? I had not heard that.....So it will be another "event lawn" like they did with the Disneyland resort claiming that guests were asking for an open lawn space...so they tore out the iconic horseshoe falls and now there is a flat plain lawn....because "guests were asking for a lawn"... Well..it is going to be interesting...By removing all the features that make the property special I am wondering how they will be able to claim that “Once completed, the iconic resort hotel will be completely re-imagined with a level of detail as only Disney can deliver.”

The Yacht Club is very adult orientated, and has the benefits of the many lounges at Yacht/BoardWalk/Swan/Dolphin.

Yacht is the best for this reason. It is very adult oriented.
