I don't know much about it, but to retort with another question,

what does this have to do with WDW? :)

We've known for awhile now that theirs will not at all be like ours here at WDW or DL I mean it's suppose to be something very unique from my understanding, but then again they're using our crush technology for Stich! :brick:

I thought the MI attraction at TDL was using similar technology which is being used in toy story mania, Flashlights to see the monsters or something like that.

Yep, it will be the same tech just different theme. I'm pretty sure that's why the TSM cars are being made in Osaka as well, just makes sense. Though this is the longest development on a ride I've ever seen, it was announced in 2004 or 5 and doesn't open until '08 or '09.

There was an excellent article in Laughingplace magazine. They built a giant mock up of some of the ride scenes in glendale to test the technology and it was apparently very successful. If you shine the flashlight at something that is vibrating or may have a monster lurking it will effect some response (such as that monster appearing) much like Buzz but without the 'Z's. It is all contextualised as a game of finding each other in the dark with flashlights. I don't know if this is a common childrens game in the US but it seems slightly tenuous to me. Despite that it looks like it will be yet another Tokyo-unique first rate attraction.

Not to sound like a Disney apologist, but you have to cut DCA's version a *little* slack, as they were using a pre-existing ride system and show building... I think they did a great job with what they had to work with.

Disneyland was using the "Crush technology" before Disney World was with a Stitch attraction in Innoventions (Stitch's Picture Phone). It's still there, as a matter of fact, and to be honest, I like it a lot better than Crush's Turtle Talk...maybe because it's more intimate (only about 5 max can talk with him at a time). Unfortunately, it's hours have always been a bit limited.
