It'd be a new show, I don't think Laugh Floor will last long after Frontierland is finished up.
Replaced with something new or just closed?

Any word on the new Monsters show? Will it be a 4D type movie or are they considering something different like a live show with characters?

To me, stage show is a very interesting descriptor... to me, it says live performers but I'm not sure. Could be weird wording?

The Disney Park Blog post calls it a theater show.

That’s right, humans will be able to enter the world of Monsters, Inc. when it is added to the south side of Disney’s Hollywood Studios. Building off the exciting announcements from last summer’s D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event, the new land will include the coaster we’ve all dreamed of – a suspended ride recreating the door vault scene – plus dining and shopping and a whole new theater show.

Is there any chance that it could be being repurposed as the entrance facade for the door factory? Makes no sense to paint it else?

In a random update, that metal structure has been painted light blue:

I assume if they painted it blue to try to have it blend in with the sky that means they plan to keep it around for a while. Could be a potential sign that construction is not going to start any time soon. Maybe good news for MV3D fans at least.

Only other possibility is maybe they plan to hang construction scrims on it to block views of the Door Coaster building being built back there. Not sure why that would be necessary, but who knows.

This was from one month ago. It looks like it has a scrim on it, maybe it was blue and just looked like another color.

It looked red in the first Blog Mickey update:

Kinda bizarre mystery. Blue is usually used to blend into sky but that’s for permanent stuff like the giant GoTG show building. Paint is relatively cheap but why waste it for something coming down soon?

Maybe they are carefully disassembling it and started by removing the paint layer by layer. ;)

One other possibility is that is being used as a paint test.

Recycling layers of old paint….we will know that’s the case when in the next DVC refurb all the rooms are red🤑🤑🤑🤑

Could be a paint test. That makes some sense.

I will believe this when it actually happens or maybe when they move with something with the old Stitch space.

Juice isn’t worth the squeeze.
If they finally decide to do the AC refurb then maybe they move the meet and greets for classic Star Wars characters currently in launch bay there. I know WDW has no real Star Wars stuff in Tomorrowland but both DLR and Tokyo have Star Tours as part of Tomorrowland. Neither Stitch or MILF has the space for a true ride addition but either or both could become meet and greet space.

Since we’ve heard the Muppets will continue to have a presence in the parks outside of just Rockin Muppet Coaster maybe a pigs in space experience of some kind.

Me thinks they're waiting to see what makes more between Elio and life action Lilo and Stitch to see what direction to take Tomorrowland into once it's number is called after they're done ripping apart Frontierland.

They've done rounds of investment for Fantasyland, now Frontierland, and Tomorrowland is obviously in a spot where it needs the investment.

Sure they can do Adventureland first, or maybe do it alongside Tomorrowland like how they're doing Frontierland with Villains. But something tells me that once the L&S remake sets the box office on fire and prints Stitch money we're gonna see some movement on Tomorrowland or Adventureland, both lands where they can shove that blue critter at!
