DHS Monster Inc Land Coming to Disney's Hollywood Studios

I think this is the one project the more they announce, the more excited I get. Aside from losing Muppets, of course
I have lots of good vibes about this project, and think it will be incredible. And yknow what, if any project had to replace MV3D, im glad it’s this one. With the lifting out of station, spinning cars, and “Boost zone” talk from the reveal, while its very early, I have similar “throwing every ‘magic trick’ that we can in” vibes for this coaster that muppetvision has.

Worthy replacement.

Perhaps for Villains?!?!

Thrill and "scare" level for the Villains Land attractions will be really interesting. I wonder if they go pretty "extreme" (well at least for Disney) for the coaster since that will have a height requirement anyway, so to appease people look for that but then a bit tamer/more humor elements with the dark ride so at least part of it has more family friendly - but not forcing the entirety of the land to be for everyone in the family

There two instances from the video that scare me, and I'm hoping to be proven wrong. For door coaster, they mentioned being able to see other people flying around in the gravity bldg, and for the stark flight lab at DCA, they're embracing the idea of showing/embracing the ride system/vehicle components. These could both be done really well and be very cool, but it feels like they're going down a road that's a heck of a lot closer to just seeing unthemed roller coaster/ride components during the ride than Disney's typical theming approach.

The seats can turn. What are they turning to look at… screens?

With all the new promotional material Disney has dumped regarding the upcoming WDW changes, do we have anything at all about the “show” that is replacing Muppets and, on a reasonable timeline, should be open in late 2026 or very early 2027?

I personally doubt very much the show opens earlier. It’s probably only halfway put together, seems like a late project decision to me.

I think the sequence of events was they had urgency to spend money and have things to show. The Monsters coaster was plucked off a shelf. All indications was that occurred within a few months of the spending vision (Oct 2023-Jan 2024).

The placement was potentially not even fully finalized at D23. The show I would be unsurprised if that was approved in the last 6 months at most.

There have been a few who insist the show couldn’t possibly be that far behind, mostly because it being that far behind logically means Muppet*Vision 3D isn’t closing at the last reasonable moment to facilitate construction.

Ah. Yes I very much doubt it leads the land or is fully developed, which it wouldn’t need to be unless it were.

But I do think it’s probably happening. The lack of mention means as much as the lack of mention of the three other soon to open shows. Zootopia always struck me as the one to be quietly axed if this leadership wasn’t as earnest as they are trying to be.

I wonder how they'll handle flip flops/crocks on this ride... many inverted coasters load and unload from the same station and you can just put your flip flops next to the ride platform... this one seems like it may have a separate unload station... wonder if they'll make you sit on your loose shoes or if they'll have some sort of bin on the ride for your shoes (like the phone bin on Tron). It's a unique problem for Disney's first inverted coaster...

My main problem with this land is the fact that it feels thematically disconnected from the rest of the park. I’ve always been an advocate for a Pixar based land that connects together. I don’t get why they put 2 Pixar properties nowhere near each other. If they used the Animation Courtyard space, they would be able to build a massive ‘Pixar’ themed land with future expansions such as the Incredibles.

I love how it will be sandwiched between Star Tours and Star Wars Land.

Pixar isn’t even a common setting, much less a theme. If “a named group made these things” is a theme then the placement is just as thematically cohesive because it’s all ultimately Disney content.

I mean how else do you think the park should be organized?

I could see Villains having a high level thrill coaster since the main E ticket is probably a dark ride, so families are covered. Add a C Ticket flat ride and you can pump up the coasters thrills even more.

Personally I’d want a coaster that was themed to Bald Mountain, with the coaster timed to the score as you fly around a room full of demons and ghosts and a large Chernabog AA. Alternatively the assumed Maleficent theme is fine, have a dragon AA to fly around and we’re good.
