if you are ever at the TTC and notice that the line for the express monorail to MK is really long you can go to the line for the hotel monorails which also stops at the mk

really? is there just one monorail to the hotels... or more than one choice? if so... which one is the best choice? you can tell I don't do the monorail often...

Well, there is only one monorail to the hotels. The Express goes straight to MK, but the hotel monorail I think goes from TTC to Poly. to Grand Floridian(sp). Then it goes from Grand Floridian to the MK and from MK to Contemporary. It is a longer trip to the MK, but it is a shorter line.:)

thanks... now that I know there is only one monorail to the hotels, I'll know that if I'm not in a real hurry to get to the MK... and wouldn't mind taking the scenic route... I can choose the monorail for the hotels... :)

Be forewarned!!

When I tried this one time during the peak season with my family, we were asked to show Resort ID's before we got on the Monorail.

I've heard since then that they only do this during real busy times.

If you tell them that you are eating at one of the restaurants at one of the resorts, they won't normally give you a problem. Anyone can eat at the resorts. You don't have to be staying on property to do that.

If you get on a monorail and they mention they are going to do safety checks, GET OFF and catch a ferry. If one of these checks fail (executed just before MK) they do more tests, and if they fail you all get offloaded. They usually mention if they are doing it during boarding.

This is yet another "fact" that I think only happend to one person so they think it is a nromal thing that WDW does.

ANYONE can ride ANY monorail they want to ride ANYTIME they want.

You dont even have to be "going" to WDW to do so.

In other words. Lets say you just want to drive out to WDW and ride the rails. No prob. Just pay for parking (unless you have other means for parking) Walk to the TTC and hop aboard and ride. Ride all day if you want.

In fact for the TRUE hardcore rail fans. I highly recomend this as a nice day trip

*EDIT* Image above has been changed since whoever made it messed up. Thanks for the heads up rackman

This is simply NOT true....much like trying to pool hop at the Beach Club, Riding on the Resort Monorail without staying at at a Monorail Resort is a gamble...sometimes they ask you for a Resort ID..sometimes they don't. I remember at least 2 occasions where they made me show my resort ID before they would let me and my family on the resort monorail. Both times it was during peak seasons. It didn't happen much in the off season.
My point is this...ride whatever monorail you want..that's your choice..but if you aren't staying at a deluxe/Monorail resort and you choose to ride the Resort Monorail..ya should carry your Resort ID...and if ya don't have one...well I hope you don't get kicked off the monorail...it's gotta be pretty embarrasing..and I have seen it happen several times.

Whatever man. I would say the Christmas and MVMCP would be one of thoes PEEK TIMES and I have NEVER seen or had it happen. We always took the monorail from the GF (which is a resort) to the MK and back again.

I've never seen the CMs at any of the stations ask for Resort IDs. I would think it would be of further hassle to ask for IDs during the peak season, because of all the crowds already.

The only thing I've seen CMs checking for is tickets to board at the TTC after you pass the ticket windows. No where else have I seen anyone check for anything else.

When we were leaving the MK oen time, they MADE us ride the resort monorail. The Express was blocked off. Plus, I've never seen them check for Resort IDs at the station.

That is a lie, I was a CP and worked on the rails. We never ever asked for a resort ID. I worked during Christmas, Thankgiving and 4th of July at the on the resort beam, we didnt for check resort ID's. It doesnt matter, its better though that you stick to the Express rail if your not staying at a resort and traveling to MK. If you would like to resort hop then you may take the resort line around. During a normal day of operations there are probably 3 monorails on the resort and 4 on the express, if your looking for a faster way to get from the TTC to the MK express is the way to go. Ferry Boats might be a better bet when there is more people, they can fit a larger number of bodies on one boat.

I, too, have been asked several times for my Resort ID before boarding the resort Monorail.

They may not do it anymore but they have in the past.

Please don't call anyone a liar if you don't know for sure what the facts are.
