Well, lets put it this way. As far as if it was done in the past. My fater worked fro WDW for 20 years and retired in 1997. and in that 20 years of goign to the park, we ALWAYS took the resort monorail since it had a shorter line and was a nicer trip (IMO) and we were NEVER, EVER asked or heard or seen anyone ever being asked for a resort ID.

As far as what I said about

"In other words. Lets say you just want to drive out to WDW and ride the rails. No prob. Just pay for parking (unless you have other means for parking) Walk to the TTC and hop aboard and ride. Ride all day if you want."

Thats is a fact. I have done it a few times. had nothing to do so we just went and road the rails and resort hopped and just spent about 4 hrs without having to spend any money.

Monorail Man,

You might want to revise your drawing. There is no direct line from the EPCOT loop to the shop. The monorails have to pass through switchbeams from the EPCOT loop to the MK express loop and from the express loop to the shop.

Its not my drawing. I just found it. But now that you mention it. I see what you mean.

Just thought I'd chime in with my two cents!

My brother and I have been the past 3 years in a row, the 2nd or 3rd week of June (not sure what "season" that is). We always take one day off in the middle of the week and resort hop. This past June, we rode the bus to the MK from Dixie Landings, then hopped on the resort monorail and rode it to Contemporary, then Poly then GF - no questioning, no ID check, not even a second glance.

I've read in tour guides like Birnbaum's and Unofficial Guide that they suggest you carry your resort ID because the use of the transportation system is a "perk of Disney Resort Guests". Bull  WDW transportation is treated anymore just like any city's transportation. It may be policy to check IDs, but they don't. Any Joe Schmoe can hop on a bus, boat or monorail and ride till their heart's content.

Now, my little soap box - the people who have paid the big bucks to stay at a Monorail Resort should have first dibs on the Resort Loop at park closing and opening. That's a major perk for those $300 rooms, and I think us schlubs should only ride that loop in the middle of the day, when it's not a mass entrance or exit - it's only common courtesy :D
