Monorail track length?

No specific reason for asking this question, just curious I guess, but how long is the total track length to the monorail system?

The total track length of the loops is about 14.7 miles. The lagoon and exterior loops are about 3 miles each with the EPCOT loop being around 7.5 miles. The spurs and shop sections compose the rest.

I believe there's the part of the monorail system between the Grand Floridian and The Magic Kingdom where the track just ends. Don't worry!! There monorail loop is still there, but it just seems odd that all of a sudden the track just stops.....

Where do they put the express monorail after the parks close?

I plan on taking a Disney trip on March 26th-27th (weekend trip before I leave for NY on the 28th). I'll take a pic of it (if I can time the monorail right).

You sure you're not talking about the spur beam to the monorail barn between the contemporary and MK? Because that sounds like what you're talking about.
Its pictured in my avatar ATM as a matter of fact heh.

THAT'S WHERE IT IS!! I knew it was on that side of the track. I thought it was between GF and MK. What's the spur track for? Did they get tired and not want to build it anymore? :)

No.. monorails come to/from the monorail barn on that beam. When they need to get monorails to/from the monorail barn they transfer them via a switching system at that point. They can also transfer from the express beam to the local beam at that switch point. There is a switch from the express beam to the Epcot beam just outside the north end of the TTC.

Anyways, if you look closely at the track, you can see it split into two. The one that splits off is the spur track. Rather interesting imagery. Also, if you use the same image and click North a few times, you can see the "monorail barn" (I assume where the tracks go in).

Yes, you are correct - that is the monorail "roundhouse" - which is actually rectangular. The spur splits again and into, I believe, 10 spurs into the garage. They park on the 2nd floor. The bus repair shop is on the first floor, on the right side (in that pic) and the Train Roundhouse is on the first floor, on the left side. You can also see Central Shops to the east (right). It's the gigantic building, where they make nearly everything.

There are 12 monorails. The barn has 10 beams inside but can only hold 8 monorails. The other 4 are parked at various resorts, like inside the Contemporary, or at the Grandfloridian, or as you can see HERE they are nose to nose.

Ok, the EPCOT line being around 7.5 miles is from TTC to EPCOT. Does anyone know the size of the LOOP that goes around EPCOT? I am trying to do a scale model.

Also, it is 7.5 miles one way, or round trip?

The round trip length is 7.5 miles. As for the loop size, you'll have to estimate the diameter. I would guess it's about 0.4-0.5 miles in dia.

Taking the distances off my Satellite picture I have these figures which are pretty close:

Width from Mission: Space to The Land: 1000 ft
Around the loop (from the middle of the turnstyles): 3582 ft
Turnstyles to South-end of Monorail loop: 1375 ft
Distance between Monorail rails at the Entrance (East/West): 145 ft

Other figures:

Width of Universe Of Energy: 430 ft
Wonders of Life Dome: 250 ft
Mission: Space (North/South) 200 ft
Test Track: 330 ft
Innoventions (Center of East to Center of West): 475 ft

If you need anything else around property just let me know.
