Hi Everyone,

I read these boards a lot, but this is my 1st post...
Question on Monorail Toys, I was in WDW beginning of Oct, I wanted to add to my monorail by buying the Epcot sphere, Well, I was told they no longer make these and have been replaced with the Epcot toy which the monorail does not run through:( is this true?....

Yes, the Epcot playset out now does not allow for the monorail to run underneath. I did see the one you are looking for at WDW but only once. Contact WDW mail order. Anything at the parks is available there for the same price plus shipping. DON'T GO ON EBAY. You'll get ripped off. They want like $45 for Polynesian, etc. They are now only $19.99 at WDW, being discontinued. A CM told me she didn't know if they were just getting rid of them or coming out with a new line of monorail items. I know I'd like to see an electric one that stops at the stations. Here is a price list for you ... WDW shipping is very reasonable.

Monorail set (gold) - $60.00 (eBay - $80-$120)
Switch Station - $45.00 (eBay - ~$60)
Resort Sign set - $25.00 (eBay - ~$40)
Polynesian and Grand Floridian - $19.99 ea. (eBay - ~$50 ea.)
Contemporary - $40.00 (eBay - ~$60)
Track (straight or curved) - $10.00 (eBay - ~$15)

You know what's funny about the "toys"? I actually made my own Contemporary, Polynesian, T&T Center, and Epcot Station before Disney came out with actual replicas. (I love to build things out of popsicle sticks... they actually turned out quite nice) Strangely enough, the Epcot ball is the only one Disney came out with that looks better than the ones I made!!!! Naturally, I have purchased all the official sets since they have been on the market, but I kind of miss the days where I had to be creative about the monorail line. I never did get around to creating the Grand Floridian.

The only thing I wish they would do is modify some of the track pieces so that you could do more with the shape of your Monorail line. I have 4 actual monorails and some extra track pieces, but the most I can do with it is make a strange looking oval with some bends in the line.

I need a bigger house for all my monorail pieces!!!! Since it is almost the Holiday Season, I'll be getting it all out soon and spending hours setting it up, driving my hubby and the dogs crazy!!!!

Every year at Christmas time, we have a Disney Model train set up that runs around the base of the tree, and around the OUTSIDE of the train, the model Monorail makes its rounds too!! So far I have the Contemporary Resort model, and yes I have the Spaceship Earth model!!! Sorry to hear that it has been discontinued...doesn't that make mine more valuable?? Hello??? E-bay??? NOPE...wouldn't part with it...I take some pics this Christmas and post them here....:D
