Thanks for all the information, I just love the sound of flooring a monorail into the station, would like to have a go at that!

I think it's funny when people who live in Florida talk about the "cold", I love it whenmy aunt who lives in Orlando calls up here in January and tells us how cold it is down there, "it's 65 outside, brrr" when we are getting pounded by 3 feet of snow, and it is -12 Ihave no sympathy for her :)

This is a RARE picture of Red and Yellow nose to nose at Concourse (TTC/Epcot side) This was when they were doing work on Switch 9, and couldn't take any of the Epcot trains off the beam. One was at Epcot, so we had to have two at Concourse somehow.

that is a cool pic. I want to use it as my pc desktop.

It can get down to the 20's-30's at night down here in the winter. No matter where you live, that IS cold.

Ok. If "The Shop" can only hold 10 trains. then what do they do with the other 2 at night????

I also am wondering if someone can verfy a fact I have heard. The "front" nose of course has a window. but I have heard (and cant rember from my trips) that the rear nose is now a "see through" window. only black or dark tinted "window"

Shop has 10 beams, but can only hold 8 trains due to work tractors, and the paint shed. During cold nights, 4 trains are parked nose-to-nose in the Contemporary.

As for the cabs, both Cab 1 and Cab 6 (front and rear) are identical. The only difference is that Cab 1 has the binloop, whereas Cab 6 does not.

Ok. I go the part about cold nights. but what about normal nights? They just leave them parked outside?

What is a binloop??

And if since there is a real window in the rear, can/has anyone ask to sit in the back and ride? (would be different).

The Binloop is the audio system for the speils.

As for the rear, like I said, both cabs are identical. However, since there is no operator in the rear cab, and the controls are live, no one is allowed in the rear.

OH!! Ok. So they (Disney) could drive the monorail from eaither end then. are the cars removable? Like can they be unhooked and more/less cars added or removed? I know I have seen soem with 3 cars and some with 5-6 but not sure if thats just how they are built (I know they are not built together) but Just wondering if they are simple like railroad cars.

Sorry for all the questions.

Monorail man - the 3 car setup may have been the Mark III monorail at Disneyland. I`m not sure if WDW`s cars can be switched (for service for example) - I doubt it. I would imagine apart from capacity, if it were possible, running a WDW Mk VI would have load/speed/weight issues and interfere with the safety zoning system.

Has anyone yet found a picture of the Contemporary Hurricane doors shut??

By the way, someone asked where the barn was...

The barn is behind Magic Kingdom, and the trains are kept on the bottom level, the monorails on the top.

Hurricane doors? Never heard or thought of that, but I would love to see/hear more as I could see the necessity.

Well I did reply to the question about 4 posts ago, all you have to do is look up :). Pics, I have none because you are not allowed to take pics. And I for one will not post the exact location of it, since I don't really think I am allowed to. Sorry, it is nothing personal. I just want to make sure I am following the rules.

If you pay special attention off the Epcot line at the TTC, you will see a switch track (or whatever you want to call it) and it will take the monorails to the shop. Also while on the WDWRR, there is a side track just prior to the Toontown Fair station, the roundhouse is back there. You can see it now that there has been some downed trees from the recent hurricanes. Take a tour, they will show you. If you have the extra $ for a backstage tour, do it!
