Monorail spiel has changed!

I personally don't care what the monorail speech is as long as it includes..."Please Stand Clear of the Doors...Por favor mantanganse alejado de las puertas."

"Por favor mantanganse alejado de las puertas."

Now if only they could bring back the old voice guy =(

Wait a minute. Isn't the voice still the same?

The voice guy for the main spiel (NOT the "stand clear of the doors" part) has been the same for a while, I thought. Isn't he one of the Voices of Liberty guys?

Anyone know who the voiceover artist(s) has/have been over the last number of years? The one I am thinking of always said "Welcome aboard Disney's highway in the sky," etc., and sounded a lot like one of the main hosts on QVC (although I do not think it was him).

The Monorail spiel on the Express beam has changed, based on my obligatory trip on it today (since I was working at the Magic Kingdom station). Although references to the attractions built for the Happiest Celebration on Earth are still found, "It's the Happiest Celebration on Earth and you're part of it" has been removed. Also, a section promoting Mickey's Not-So-Scary Halloween Party has been added on the approach to the Contemporary. When entering the Magic Kingdom, the entire Stich portion of the spiel has been removed, though the rest of the wording remains the same.

I just want to say how lucky you are you get to ride the monorail everyday. I'm so jealous! :p

I halfway want the stitch parade from TDL to show up at the MK, if nothing else then to make you internet kids explode. :)

Sure, they're going a bit overboard with stitch, but I don't let it get under my skin.

More changes

The Epcot beam had spiel changes similiar to the ones on the Magic Kingdom beams with the Happiest Celebration on Earth references, but, on the way to Epcot, there is a portion about the Epcot Food & Wine Festival. Also, for anyone who was annoyed by the window stickers for previous celebrations, get ready for an even more radical way to promote Year of a Million Dreams. Each monorail will get a huge wrap that looks as if a can of paint exploded (judging by all of the colors, at least) on the front and sides of the train. There was a crew in the Monorail Shop about ready to start work on them when I brought my second ever train into shop from service. I will find out soon how far along they got with those since I will be back getting trained on the beams today.

Wow.. just... wow.. they took my "pimp my ride" monorail comment card seriously.

Does anyone know the answer to this question?

Do you all know which voice I am talking about, as being the familiar one for me (the one who did most of the main announcing for the monorail for the last number of years at least)? You know, Mr. "take small children by the hand" and "Disney's highway in the sky..." and "we are now approaching Disney's Contemporary Resort...," etc.

Is that voice now gone?

That depends...how long ago were you there? If you are referring to Matt Hansen from about 1991-2004 then yes that voice is gone. If you are referring to 2004 and beyond the voice is the same older sounding gentleman. If you are talking 1971- 1990 then it would be Jack Wagner who is no longer with us but still can be heard telling you to stand clear of the doors. If they ever get rid of that spiel, I will be very unhappy.

Hope that helps.

Thanks Dusty. I think I am talking about Matt Hansen. What happened to him? Does he no longer work for the company? Has he passed away?

In fact, I would like to know more about each of these people. Were they cast members who worked daily at the parks?

What can you tell us about these very familiar voices?
