Monorail spiel has changed!

It would be great if the monorail system had a variety of character voices and greetings. Even some cool park trivia would be nice instead of the usual info on the monorail spiel.l

Thanks Dusty. I think I am talking about Matt Hansen. What happened to him? Does he no longer work for the company? Has he passed away?

In fact, I would like to know more about each of these people. Were they cast members who worked daily at the parks?

What can you tell us about these very familiar voices?

Paul
Matt Hansen is still alive.... I can get some more information for you.... give me a few days :)

I was at the parks on Thursday and the HCOE recording was still running however any references to Stitch was gone. Also all the HCOE decals had been removed from the windows.

How do cast member train to drive the monorails? Do they use a simulator, Also how do they decide what monorails go on what route
As a Monorail Pilot myself, we don't use simulators, just the real thing. That is really the only way to learn. We sometimes simulate emergency situations but just for training purposes. As for how they decide which trains go where, its all random. There is no set formula or timetable. Whatever train colors they feel on putting on the respective beams, that is what they will put there.

The Stitch spiel was perhaps the only time I've ever found the Monorail humorous (in a good way). I loved the "Are we almost there yet?" part as I was with two small girls who had had to endure a drive from the hotel, a tram ride to the TTC, and now a Monorail ride...just so they could get into the Park. They had said it about 6 times during those rides and to hear Stitch say it busted all of us up, the girls included. I'll miss it if it is gone. I was hoping to record it when I'm there in November-December.

Last I knew Matt Hansen was working for Disney Cruise Line and was doing the intros and outros to the Official Walt Disney World Podcasts. However they seem to have stopped doing the podcasts at least for now. I would really like to know the name of the guy who has been doing it for the last few years..anyone know?

Yeah, you're right, he was on the podcasts, which really made me feel like I was there! They were cool. I hope they make some more.

And thanks, also, to Buford. It is cool to hear about these people. They have a subtle influence that actually lasts sometimes.... as is evidenced by what I just said about the podcasts.

A couple of years ago I found a formula that told me the chances of which monorail would be on which line that day. I don't remember the formula but I would use which monorial was on each line that day and which one left in the day.

I miss the old Monorail Narrator. This new guy sounds too much like the Coming Soon to Disney DVD guy. That type of voice makes my blood sugar levels overload and/or like I am in the neighborhood carpool van.:hurl:

This may sound kind of nutty- but when watching two movies recently, there were voiceovers that sounded like the monorail spiel voice to me. I looked it up on imdb, and it says the guy's name is Tom Hines. He is the voice of Cory Fleming in "Runaway Bride" and as the reporter in "Princess Diaries," which is where I first heard it. I thought Disney movie...could be the same guy. I couldn't find any other information on him...anyone got anything?
