Monorail Peach Comes Online

They do look a bit run down here and there, nothing a bit of TL&C can't fix. But remember the trains are 20+ years old with millions of miles on them. Still, they're holding up better than most vehicles I know of!

I sincerly agree. They are in great shape considering the amout of miles, years and passengers they have dealt with. It is just getting close to the end of life from what I can see. It seems that they are to the point that it is hard to keep them in the condition that we have been used to seeing over the years, but so are some of the older busses in the fleet.

WDW's new motto: We're 40 years old but still in better shape than most parks!

I just don't get why the "D" logo is not on there. I get it is dated, but it is inconsistent with the other monorails. That to me looks sloppy and a bit six flagsish!

Understood, but this is WDW we're talking about. Saying, "But for 20 years old they still look pretty good!" doesn't cut it. I'm not asking for new trains (though they really could use them) but I am asking for a well maintained fleet that still looks fresh and doesn't have a breakdown every week.

yet when they try to accomplish that exact task, the self entitled idiots start complaining about the planned downtime caused by maintenance of the fleet/beam even though it will(hopefully) prevent the unplanned downtime on a nearly daily basis. hhmmmmmmmm

For many, the issue of the downtime was more about poor service from Disney in accomodating guests with enough buses/boats, and ambiguous scheduling in regards to party nights, and off season hours when the park closes early. Information has gotten better, however. The other issue is the fact that they let maintenance slide for so long, that such downtime for and indefinite amount of time is necessary.

At the end of my post, I'll save some of y'all the trouble of flaming me and go ahead and flame myself  I thought the Tronorail looked really cool. I also think the DL fleet looks a lot better than the WDW fleet. I say wrap them ALL and get rid of the BORING white monorails with the stripes!

TRONorail was cool, but not what I would have prefered for a TRON style monorail. As for getting rid of the white, HOW DARE YOU!!

The DL Monorails are still considered an attraction, whereas the WDW Monorails are now considered transportation (before you all start telling me otherwise, I know DL's MS is a transit system, but still considered an attraction). The WDW fleet uses the white to make them more uniformed, and easy to dispatch with colors. NOT NUMBERS. I don't want to hear a pilot saying ''Hello ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls, thank you for riding Monorail 10 on our 'World Famous Highway in the Sky'. For the comfort of others, please no smoking, and keep your hands and feet away from the doors. Once again, thank you for riding Monorail 10.'' Lol, I like the colors better anyways.

What are they gonna do? Have numbers on the side?

The numbers wouldn't seem right honestly...

I get your point, but (even well-known, almost famous) locomotives on real railroads are commonly known and referred to by their number - such as the 4501, the 844, or the 4449. Most major passenger trains were named back in the day, but some were known only as numbered trains.

Were the monorail ever to be extended property-wide (a complete and utter fantasy, of course) you would quickly run out of even similar colors, and need some way to distinguish monorails, probably by numbers (even if more than one shared the same or a similar not-readily-distinguished color).

This. I have no problem with the downtime because lets face it, the entire system needed immediate help. But the way it was rolled out and the initial conflicting/confusing/lack of information was particularly frustrating. Even now I'm not really clear on what happens.

I'm all for maintenance but Disney should have done a better job of explaining what was happening and what the new operating schedule would be.

At WDW, they can keep the colors, but should they be placed in a city like they did in Vegas, I can understand the numbers. I am simply saying that colors are perfect to use for WDW... IMHO anyways...

I thought that they should have different types of transportation for different parks.

Magic Kingdom has the ferry/monorail
Epcot has the monorail in Future World and Friendship boats in World Showcase
Studios has the Friendship boats but should also have large open-air double-decker buses with a "Hollywood Tours" theme. (In case of rain, the regular buses would run)
Animal Kingdom should have a safari themed train (like the one that goes to Rafiki's Planet Watch)

As always, buses would run in times of extreme busy times...but there should be a centralized Transportation center.

Monorail Dopey...?

Leave the characters for the parking lot.

Yes... We shall keep names for the parking lots... The Monorails can keep their colors, unless being used somewhere city-wide like Vegas... Then they can use numbers, lol.

To be technical though in all honesty, the trains are actually named, just by color!! :ROFLOL:

Speaking of colors, how many times did Peach have to go back to the shop after her debut? I know of once for the much needed cleaning.. But was there any other times she had to go back since?
