Where is the new Monorail Building located? Does anyone have pictures? Would this just be a maintance facility or would it be a monorail terminal for AK?? If they were to extend the monorail to AK would they also connect to MGM as a loop and just go to the Epcot Station or would they try to connect all the way back to the TTC???

It seems to be west of Animal Kingdom (I think) within a cast area so it would be for maintenance.

As a monorail host at WDW, I can tell you basically anything you want to know about the monorails. They are absolutely awesome machines to work with and it is amazing how much guests love taking a ride aboard our Highway in the Sky.

Do you know about the second maintenance building?

Where is it?

Am I correct?

OK, I can understand that during a hurricane you do not want the monorail vehicles sitting up on an elevated section of track, but... why do they have to sit inside a garge every night? And why can no monorail be out for more than two nights in a row? Are they still teenagers?

What do they do with busses and trains at night and during hurricanes?

Check the large building just south of the maintenance bays.

I imagine they keep them outside on a rotating basis to reduce wear as much as possible, minimize the opportunity for vandalism, and to perform regular maintenance on whichever trains are in the barn.

The buses have a depot but it's likely not large enough to house the whole fleet as there's really no use for that. The Walt Disney World railroad consists share the maintenance barn with the monorails.

The launches and ships that cross the lagoon from the TTC have a dock in Bay Lake up near Tomorrowland. Does anyone know if Epcot's Friendships have a similar dock or do they just moor at a resort? I can't recall ever seeing a dock.
Vandalism:

Who would vandalize a monorail? Certainly not a CM, and how would a guest even have access to the monorail barn?

How could/would you even get to the monorail if it was parked outside on the rail?

I meant to say that some trains were kept out of the barn for those reasons, but that there are good reasons why they're not *all* kept out of the barn as someone suggested earlier. I'd guess it'd be easier for them to park the trains at one of the stations so the pilot can get out rather than tow them somewhere out onto the beamway with the tractor :p

Being from the construction and maintenance side of things at WDW,maybe I can help clear things up. After park closing there are always 2 of the Monorails parked at the "Kingdom" station outside of the Main entrance at the MK. They have always been different ones there every time we have seen them. Also the term "Kingdom" is used by the Monorail Pilots to identify the MK station, and they refer by name to the resort stations on the loop for the MK Resort side of the system. The "Kingdom" term maybe is what someone heard called by name and why they might think there is a AK station. Trust me there is NOT one on property.

I mainly said something mainly because, while I'm sure that Disney has it's share of vandalism, I'm am confident that it is nowhere near the problem that it is at Six Flags and other theme parks.

And Madison this is NOT directed AT you
However, I do question the wisdom of the Manager whose idea that keeping them in the barn reduces the exposure to the elements. That Florida moon can be treacherous on the paint finish.

Thanks for clearing that up

Heh. I live in Seattle, so it makes me feel better to pretend that it rains everywhere like it does here. :)

There isn't an actual station but isn't there a second maintenance building?

Transportation Maintenance or Monorail Maintenance ?

The bus maintenance is kinda northeast of AK:

Any other Monorail Maintenance facility I am unaware of, as it would have to on the beamway somewhere. :veryconfu

It is just a building with no beamway and it is not operational.
At least not for the monorails.

I am pretty sure it exists, the dimensions are almost exactly the same as the current maintenance facility.

Someone correct me if I am wrong.

It is just a Transportation Maintenance bldg in the South service Area. They work on buses and other fleet vehicles (truck, vans, cars, etc.)

They are not towed out onto the beams from MX to the lines unless they are broke (would be going back to the barn instead of from it). Every beam in the barn has a ladder/stairs to the cab of each train.
